Last day of the month, which is always good to note. Hard to believe Febrauary is almost over. Then again, it is a small month. I'll be freaking out when it's April eventually haha.
Today was pretty good, despite getting to bed super super late. I somehow managed to stay on top of things. My radio show was awesome! I had a lot of fun djing, which is what it's all about. Had a total of six listeners at one moment. I noticed some people would listen for a little and then leave and then come back. I guess whatever works.
I had lunch with my friend Alison. I don't think I've ever mentioned her before. She's a Despair Faction member who also goes to my school. (yes there's three of us on campus at University of MD!!!) I managed to eat food which was good. I am feeling so much better than I was yesterday.
As for last night, I did manage to get something to eat and hold it down. My dad suggested that I go to the Jewish Deli in my neighborhood, which was a brillant idea! Matza ball soup is the awesome. Believe me, I'm glad to be feeling better today.
After lunch with my friend, I had news writing class. I thought I was going to do really good on my last obituary, but nope. I had to fuck up and mispell "Westminster" (as in the town in Maryland). I spelled it as Westminister! which translates to automatic F. Now, I don't think it's gonna hurt my grade. I asked my professor that. He assures me it won't. For those who are scratching their heads thinking "WTF" I'll explain...
In news writing class, it's only an automatic F if you mispell a proper noun (Person, Place, certain things) or if you commit one of the journalistic sins (which is plagarising and fabrication). Because I mispelled the name of a town, it was an automatic F, which I can understand because had the article been for something in real life, I would've recieved grief from my editor and a bunch of nasty emails from people who either knew the person or lived in that town.
Aside from that odd disappointment, I feel good about class. We're learning how to attribute information. Starting Monday, we're gonna learn how to cover weather disasters, car accidents, and just accidents in general. After spring break is when I'll learn how to write articles that pertain to crimes in the community.
After class, I hung out with Eric for a few hours. from like 4:15 pm until 7:30 pm or something. We went to CD Depot and took a look at some cds and stuff. I found this compliation cd of Elvis Costello for 8 bucks. Not only that, but the cd was actually rare import that was out of print! so it was well worth it. The long ride home on the bus was fun. Eric and I discussed philosphy, music, the military (green berets vs. marines), chemistry and writing. I have to admit the kid is awesome. He knows that I think that of him.
I did dinner at North Campus Dining Hall and that was interesting. I can understand why Eric and some of my other friends hate eating there. I felt socially awkward. It was like high school, but weirder. Though the food I got for once was really pretty good. After dinner, I made the trip back towards South Campus and bought my books for my Women's Studies class. I know school has been in session for a month now, why such the wait? Well, I've just been able to get the money to buy them honestly. Not just that, but also the time. I have this book review due tomorrow for Anthropology but I think I'll need an extension since I'm behind in my work from family and health issues.
Tomorrow, I'm turning in my application for the Jimenez-Porter Writers' House, which is a living/learning creative writing program at UMD. It means I get to work on my poetry and prose and have a place to live next year haha. I'm also turning in poetry for the Litfest Undergraduate Writing Prize. Hopefully, all will turn out well for this competition and I get to live somewhere cool next year. (I just recently applied for Commons and Court Yards, which is a bit nicer than where I am right now...)
