Taste It

May 03, 2006 13:12

as you all may or may not know, i'm a diehard inxs fan. I have been a fan since I was pratically born. (that's right i was all about inxs and u2 as a kid...and i pretty much still am) so last night, I went to go see INXS at the DAR Constitution Hall in downtown DC.

I thought the band was going to get on stage at 9 pm. I got the venue at about 9:15 pm. I already had the feeling, i had missed out on taking photos of them. I asked one of the staff people what time they got on stage. the person told me 8:30 pm! (oh shit!) so missing out on taking photos kinda sucked. When I got to will call, I got my photo pass. I asked the guy if there were tickets available. he said "you don't have tickets already?" and i tried buying one, but instead he handed me a free ticket that nobody was going to use. it was probably for a newspaper that was never going to show up or something. Right there, I just saved myself 55 bucks.

I got to the area where my seat was and I found these empty seats in the front row part of the tier. I asked if I could sit there, so i ended up right in front on the side. though I wasn't on the floor or anything, I had pretty great seats though. (fuck yeah!) i met these really cool gals who grew up on inxs. they had all seen them live back in '88, '89 and '91. yeah i was slightly jelous haha. anyways, the set was awesome!!! i remember hearing "taste it", "pretty vegas", "hot girls", "what you need", "new sensation", "never tear us apart" (i cried during this song...), "kick", "devil inside", "I need you tonight", "original sin" and "don't change." The concert was really great to be honest. JD was humorous and crazy. He danced really well on stage and sounded great. During "Devil Inside," He walked over towards the side of the stage I was close to. I was up dancing and singing along, watching JD. He saw me, pointed at me right during the chorus. At first I wasn't sure if he was pointing at me, and then the people I were standing next to said "I think JD just pointed at you!" so yeah on the inside, I was like "omg. omg. omg" haha. but on the outside, I was just seriously smiling! As for The band, they were just the awesome. the music sounded sooo good. pretty much like everything on their albums too. What really was awesome was when kirk did his sax solo during "never tear us apart."

I will be honest though, I really wished it was Michael onstage, but I know that's totally impossible. It's not like I don't like JD. I love him. But It's just weird realizing I can never see the inxs I was suppose to see back in 1997.

The show ended about 10:30 pm. I saw some people outside the venue walking towards the other side of the building. I followed them and volia! I found INXS' tour bus. After a 20 minute wait, I ended up meeting Andrew Ferris and Kirk Pengilly. I got to shake andrew hand, and tell him how i respect and love his songwriting. as for kirk, I briefly talked to him and told him who i was. He was like "it's very nice to meet the voice on the other end of the line..." I interviewed him on the phone this past friday. I got a photo with him too. hopefully, that will turn out. like an idiot, i still had the flash off when the photo was taken. After meeting kirk, I ended up going back to the metro. I met these gals who wanted to share a cab. Before I got in the cab though, I met this guy who told me where depeche mode are going to hang out after their may 21st show. Anyways, I shared a taxi cab with the two girls I met, which worked out really well. I got to the metro and was able to get home at a decent hour.

I realize that last night, I got very lucky. more or less, I am very blessed to have had such a great time! It was definately worth the almost 10 year wait!
