Editors at the 9:30 Club

Apr 07, 2006 00:48

I am sorry for not posting this like a week ago, but as you can tell, time flies like crazy. Last Wednesday night, I went to the 9:30 club and saw editors with stellastarr*! I had an interview with chris from editors. he plays guitar for them. nice guy, but he's a bit uh... weird. i tried talking to him about music and he was a bit clueless on stuff. maybe he's one of those guys who likes shit but just doesn't know the name. the interview went well to be honest. we chatted about american culture vs. english culture. we talked about some current music (the strokes, the walkman, ect.) and we also chatted about football and rickenbacker guitars! it was cool being on their tour bus. and i have to admit, seeing them the next night on conan o'brian was sureal!!! i think the funniest part of the interview was talking about the bandmates doing dj gigs. apparently, they did some stuff at dc9 later that night. i was invited but i can't get in because i won't be 21 until july. chris was like "use a fake id!" I also told him that i don't drink and he thought i was nuts haha. he was like "well don't you like spirits?" that's after i told him i hate beer. apparently spirits is what they call vodka and all that stuff over there in england. i did admit that i like daquiris. i didn't have the heart to tell him i drink virgin ones.

as for the show, it was terrific. Editors were very energetic on stage. They sooo made my night. Unlike interpol who just stand there and look at their shoes, these guys go nuts on stage. You would think that they were a punk or hardcore band haha. I loved their lighting too. my only compliant was that I had a hard time taking photos since there wasn't a photo pit for this show, but that's the club's fault not their's. luckily, i did get some good shots from people who were nice enough to let me up infront of them for a few songs. i had to laugh while dancing to the music, i met these people who are UMD alums. They were drunk but rather nice. I can't remember the set list, but i think they pretty much played the whole album and it sounded fantastic. They're definately worth seeing.

Stellastarr* were pretty rad. I only know maybe 2 of their songs from my freshman year of college. one of them was coco, which they did play during the encoure. If Editors didn't play before them, I would say stellastarr* were fantastic, but because editors really kicked a lot of ass, stellastarr were just pretty good. They were entertaining on stage and i definately dug the music. I stayed for the whole show and set. All and all, it was a great night of music. oh and i almost forgot, during stellastarr's set, i ran into christy, who is a long time lj friend of mine! it was rad to finally meet her. (and here i was thinking i'd have to wait until the she wants revenge show to meet her haha.)

After the show, I hurried to the metro thinking I was gonna miss the last train. Turned out, I had like an hour to kill. So i ran over to black cat and got my ticket for she wants revenge!

I wrote a story on editors for the Diamondback last friday and here is the link:
