It'd work fine if it's ficlets, because I usually just pop my doc file open at odd times or when I'm not working and just get the next one in queue. But Idon't know how the whole "have to post in the exact day" would work

Ficlets are just fine. A theme is valid just for that one day if you want to post in the 31_days comm, but you can always post in your journal or another place if you don't manage to finish on that day. :)

As for more themed comms, vane_authoress has a ton listed on her profile page.
