Challenge #8 What if

Warnings : character death, yeah... Maybe I should have a go at a happy one for once :P
Note : for sagakure, who asked for a bittersweet Saga and Kanon. I have to admit I had no ideas concerning this one until I came up with this challenge. Hope you'll like it girl!
Aiolos didn’t feel the presence behind him, too focused as he was on the knife he was holding, preventing from killing his Goddess. At the exact moment he grabbed the child, he was hit from behind and fell, almost crushing the child under him. She started crying even harder and the man with the knife pulled her from under the body, put her back in her bed and raised his knife.
Saga and Kanon exchanged a look and as the knife plunged down, Kanon gasped and stared in awe at his brother.
“You actually went through with it.”
It was a statement, not a question, but Saga nodded all the same.
“It was what you wanted Kanon. And after killing Shion, this was only the next step.”
He approached his brother and gripped his shoulders.
“We will rule the world together Kanon! You and me!”
Kanon let himself fall against his brother and felt his arms around him. He hadn’t expected to feel this way after killing their Goddess and his brother’s arms felt oddly comforting. He wasn’t really sure this was what he wanted at all when he had spoken those words. Maybe he just had wanted someone to save him from everything, not drag him in deeper.
“Kanon? Are you OK?”
Kanon pulled back and smiled at his brother.
“I’m just fine. I’m just glad to be here with you, that’s all.”
Saga smiled back and Kanon thought he noticed a red flicker in those eyes. Then Saga was just himself again, but Kanon was pretty sure of what he had seen. His heart sunk in his chest, but he didn’t dare contradict his brother when he said
“We’ll always be together, the two of us. Always.”

Also, I thought Aiolos should be put on trial for attempting to murder Athena and subsequently being killed by his brother or so, but as Aiolos of course wouldn't just let them accuse him and would most likely have some followers, this could end in a full scale war between the Saints and I just didn't quite feel up to writing that at this point :P
