Today I went in to talk to my boss about my schedule this week. Turns out it was the result of a miscommunication. Somebody's going on vacation next week, but they thought he was leaving this week, so they only gave him one day. When they realized this, they let him rearrange the schedule and he took some of my hours. I didn't have a lot to begin with, but nobody did. I talked to the other guy, too, and he confirmed the story.
While I was talking to the owner, though, I was able to tell him about some of the issues that have been motivating people to seek employment elsewhere. I don't know if he'll be able to address those, but at least he knows about them. Hooray for calm, rational communication.
