mmm, those last two pics, though. Yeah, gotta say, my enjoyment of Ryan Ross: NOT ABATING. I'm also enjoying his style these days, in a weird way--sort of like Beckett mixed with my father, which is weird on more levels than I'm willing to deal with atm. Anyway, thanks for the picspam!
He is def heading Beckett-wards stylistically, I agree. Though now that he's cut all of his hair off, the dad-vibe has sort of veered off into a vibe i've been calling "jerk sunglasses."
That said, I enjoy all of his phases. Although I do have a special fondness for when his hair is longer. RIP Ryan's Curls.
that is a pretty accurate description. There are times lately when I think that really hat he wants more than anything is to be in The Outsiders. Stay cool, Sodapop, you're half way there--the jean jacket and leather jacket are on the right track, it's the patterns on the shirts that's throwing it off.
But yes. Blanket enjoyment of phases, but this one is inching up there for me right alongside the hippie cowboy phase, which was my favorite to date.
The Outsiders! Yes! Though I think what we're seeing here is Ryan as himself, not, Ryan wearing a series of carefully constructed persona-costumes. (Or else he's going for late '70s John Lennon, which suits him a lot better than early '60s McCartney, THAT IS FOR SURE.)
I liked the hippie cowboy too, though I only got to experience it retroactively. He was Mr. Puddinghair by the time I arrived at the party. I loved his look during TYVs first tour, though. Those were very good times.
Oh, same here, I was certainly a pretty late-comer to bandom. Good times to admire from the future, though? Yes.
I hope we are seeing Ryan as himself, although one of the things that I love about my perception is Ryan-as-himself is his tendency to veer off in different directions, anyway.
