Poll I haven't started any more lists for anyone, but apparently parsing their tweets is something my brain does compulsively now. I'm still mulling over starting lists for other people, too. (Mostly The Like, though I periodically I do contemplate starting one for Pete, or Jepha, or Mikey Way, if he ever gets chatty again.) The main problem is that the list does, after a point, become incredibly unwieldy, but ALSO that commentary without a list seems incomplete.
Meanwhile, while I'm stewing all of that over, here's some commentary:
Ryan: A lot of promotional chatter, though they did make video(s)(?) for "Take a Vacation" and "Change", and premiered a bunch more songs off the record. Other musical selections: "Hey Lover" by Blake Mills, who sounds enough like Conor Oberst that I actually went to look him up and see if it wasn't actually C. Oberst in one of his many brilliant disguises. Verdict: It isn't, but they probably move in (loosely) the same circles. Mills was at one point part of Simon Dawes (now just Dawes) but left to do his own thing. Anyway, moving on, Ryan still watches TV, and there was a Tosh.O marathon on yesterday. Tosh.0 is apparently "The Soup" for viral videos.
Jon: Also a lot of promotional chatter, plus a couple of pictures from the video shoot(s). Other pictures: LA by night, from I'm presuming Ryan's windows (it's very pretty); Larry Tate (Bewitched) pizza; something labeled "mimosas in the morning" which was actually a picture of a polaroid of someone I didn't recognize; and a snapshot of Echo Park on Sunday. Non picture tweets: he asked what we're doing for the weekend (his includes seaweed salad); noted the passing of Gary Coleman and Dennis Hopper; and watched Hanson on late-night TV. Also, he has a new icon: a non-distorted picture of his face, w/ sunglasses, new haircut and scruff. Finally, the Bad Rabbits are the old college buddies he never had.
Nick: Mentioned the possibility of watching The Human Centipede, though he couldn't decide what state (fucked up or not) he would want to be in to do so; was briefly distressed that Tim Burton might be remaking Weekend at Bernie's; referenced The Warriors (Can you dig it?) and also the "Don't taze me bro" YouTube video; was distressed that Dennis Hopper died; shared a link to a live performance of "The Chills" by Pink Frost; recommended Larkies to soul food enthusiasts; and finally was a tiny bit snarky with someone who scolded him for spelling Elliott Smith's name wrong.
Andy: The only non-promotional chatter was a picture of himself with his high-school basketball teammates and an exchange with a fan about how TYV is apparently looking for a female back-up singer. (Wait, WHAT?) NB: I realize this may be him trolling, but I can't interpret him well enough to be sure.
Brendon: 1) Bought a new guitar and 2) discussed it with Ian. Otherwise, maintaining radio silence.
Spencer: Mr. Chattypants is BACK. YES! *ahem* So, he gathered up a bunch of random crap from the kitchen (spices, computer cleaner, bottled water, sunflower seeds, etc) to put on a track, then shared a picture as an illustration. Other pictures: a piano with taped down keys, and a keyboard labeled "new toy". Also mentioned Glee (Asian vampires); successful passage of LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery bill; Best Worst Movie (he loved it, but it's gotten mixed reviews elsewhere); and quoted a line from "Summertime Clothes" by Animal Collective.
Travie: Played a MySpace Secret Show (or "secret" show, as the case may be); recommended Janelle Monae's "Arachandroid" and Valediction by the Foreign exchange; released a couple of new songs from the solo record; appeared on "When I Was 17" (MTV); smoked a metric fuck-ton of weed; emphatically didn't care that people don't want to call him Travie; was also emphatic about loving ladies of all colors; tried to make a sly crack about Katy Perry/California Gurl (I hate that song, mainly because it is SO BAD, oh my god); shared pictures of his friends dressed up as Ninja Turtles and himself with a gigantic bunch of balloons, UP-style; called Anaheim San Diego by accident; and may possibly have bought some art.
