The Invisible Beansprout

Funimation's handling of the D. Gray-Man anime puzzles me. First, they give it a dub that has proven controversial with the fans. Then, they fail to distribute it very well. I double-checked, the official street date was, indeed, last Tuesday. So I visited a Saturday Matinee (basically the same as Suncoast), an FYE, two Best Buys and a Borders this past weekend, and absolutely nobody had it. I finally ended up throwing in the towel and ordering it from Deep Discount.com.

My question is, why did Funi bother to license it if they were going to give it such shoddy distribution and not be able to recoup their investment? Unless they're counting on the title to help drive its online offerings, since they've been putting more and more emphasis on streaming video? (They pretty much instant-licensed the new FMA so they could stream it on their site).
