Concept albums inspired by sci-fi novels

This is a pretty fascinating look a literary/music synergies of the past. For instance, David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" was supposed to be an adaptation of "1984" until the George Orwell estate intervened (the title song of the aborted musical ended up on the final album, though) and Rush's "2112" was inspired by Ayn Rand's "Anthem." And Pete Townshend's musical adaptation of the children's novel "The Iron Man" resulted in the animated film "The Iron Giant."
