Bye-Bye DGM Anime

Aug 26, 2008 21:16

So apparently, the question of what the D. Gray-Man anime is going to do after the defeat of the Level 4 has been answered. It's not going to do anything. According to the exorcists_order community, we've got two more episodes and that's it.

It's not unusual for an anime to end while the manga is still running -- Fruits Basket and Hikaru no Go are prime examples, and Hajime no Ippo's anime covers less than a third of the volumes that have been published. But unless the animators pull something out of their butts, this anime is going to end with way too many loose ends and unanswered questions -- the Earl will still be at large, nobody will know the connections between Allen and the 14th, etc. Hopefully, this is just temporary and they'll pick it up in a year or so.

Apparently, one reason for the lack of renewal is low ratings and DVD sales. Well, maybe the anime would have gained more traction if they hadn't stuffed it with the godawful Lulubelle fillers, which I'm sure cost them viewers.
