Manga scan (age swapping)

Broke out my Sailor Jon manga to scan a page, and settled on this one. It's from the fourth arc (Dream, corresponding to the SuperS anime series). Although the plots of the anime and manga are radically different, this event happens in both ( Read more... )

It really is a shame that Stephen's troubles didn't translate into the anime - not because I want to see Stephen unhappy, but because the character development is so much stronger.

The official English version can be a real mess some times. You know they call Jon "John" twice? Yech.

YouTube definitely exists in the PASJvese, and I can't think why that would get in the way of Murdoxia. Schmon of course doesn't appear until Stars, but we should definitely use the "smaller and blurrier" line during the age swap.

It used to be Vance/Ferrell/Eddie Izzard, that last being solely so that we could say "action transvestite!" a lot. I like your take on the Trio. For the members aside from Vance, I'm trying to think of correspondents for whom I know clips exist. What about Beth Littleford (fellow member of The Daily View) and Rachael Harris (from "Vote-A-Maniacs")? Bonus: they can all chase after pretty men, and the dub can turn Vance into a girl to try to cover up the gay. (As if the show weren't gay enough already.)

Glad you approve. Much love for ickle!Jon =3

Oh gosh, yeah, I remember in one of my old single-issues I actually took a white-out pen to the page and fixed it, it was so distracting. ^^; I really appreciated being able to get my dose of magical transformaiton goodness from the local mega-chain bookstore though, even if the cover designs and flopping sometimes messed with things, it's just almost imposssible to kill artwork and plot that timeless.

Oh yes. I am liking the Littleford/Harris/DeGeneres set. In fact, I could almost see some throw-away line snuck in by the dubbers that mangaged to get past the censors [either to make a joke of Vance's being changed into a woman when he was one of the few heterosexual men on the show so it just plays off as even weirder or somesuch continutity gaff] or an inconsiquential line in the view of Vance being a female that wiser dub-watchers tout around as an in-joke. [IE: "Talents"]
I had looked at the ladies' sites, I just chose the ones I did on impluse, but the Daily View connection makes it clear that they need to be the other two.
So, Vance is Fisheye, Rachael is Hawkeye and Beth is Tigereye then?

I'll have to draw that, ubt that reminds me that I need to do a fresh design for the DramatiComedy Lights, as my first costume idea was horrifying. Anything I should be sure to not forget?
[Thinking outloud, as usual.]

I'm the kind of person who can't even take notes in textbooks, so I couldn't do that ^_^;

Yeah, in a pinch one can ignore the text and look at the art. I think I'd buy the single-issues if I could find them; the collected volumes are annoyingly small, but the larger ones would be worth it for the colored cover art alone.

I should scan some of that. Pretty stuff.

Huh. Yeah, the genderswapping is going to make for weird continuity. (Even by the PASJ standards.)

I like those lineups. I like them a lot. Do draw them, please =3

As for costume ideas ... You saw their song at the Oscars, right? That's what I'd suggest as a base for the costumes. If you're showing skin (which is unavoidable with the Lights), don't hesitate to idealize it; this is anime, after all. Aside from that - every uniform has a sailor collar, but beyond that there are no particular guidelines. Go wild =D
