Friday - Day Seven

I cannot tell you how good it is that it is the weekend! My classes have been interesting but I really need a break and I want to go and see new things. I can't wait for tomorrow when we go to Teotihucan! One of the items on my Life To Do List is about to be checked off.

I was definitely feeling the weekend coming today. I think my teacher thought I was drunk or on something because I am never that relaxed and giggly in class. We even had a test today, which Terry and I thought wasn't going to happen so neither of us studied, but I didn't care. The test was pretty easy, I think, although we had to make an audio recording of each of us speaking in Spanish for eight minutes or more and that was hard. Neither of us spoke for more than five minutes but I don't think that it will affect us too much. I am just glad to be moving onto the next book. I feel very limited not being about to use the future or subjunctive tenses and want to have some instruction about how to form them and when to use them (well the subjunctive at least).

Several of the gals from USU decided that we needed to go out together and do something after classes today, so we planned to go to Gold Flog, a miniature golfing place. So after staying at school and emailing for a while, Dee and I found a taxi and sucessfully asked him to take us there with the help of a small map we bought at the school (not the best map as it doesn't have all the street names but sufficient for our purposes).

We got there not long after the others, in spite of some nasty traffic congestion (there are times you can't get anywhere quickly in this city), and went in to see our buddies from USU chatting with the attendants. I will admit that the workers were quite cute, and a couple of the gals did a great job of embarrasing them by telling them so and asking for pictures with one of them. The poor boys were quite red in the face from so much attention from cute American girls, but you know they loved it.

The miniature gold itself turned out to be a bit beyond all of our skill levels. It was dang hard! It quickly turned into who was the worst player rather than the best, and our original idea of a five stroke limit on the holes had to be lowered quite a bit. Unfortunately, we picked the wrong day for this and before long there were storm clouds over our heads, the rain drops were falling, and the wind picked up. The poor boys ran out to save the places canvas gazebos and such while some of our more harty gals continued to play. The rest of us gave up and went inside the club house.

Dee and I had told them about the mall down the way where we had gone to see Pirates III a couple of days before and we all decided to walk there and take a look around. Everyone split up there with the promise to meet at the food court later, and Dee and I walked around for a bit too. We were both starving having missed comida that day and not having had any snacks either, so we decided we needed to grab some food.

We looked at the taco stand, the chinese place, the sushi bar, and finally settled on Dominos since others of our group had gotten it and it looked good. We managed to make our order, always an adventure since my food vocabulary is limited, and in five minutes we had our little pizzas (they have a money back garantee if you don't have your pizza in seven minutes). It really was some of the best Dominos I have had although that might have been the hunger factor.

The gals from our group slowly came back together and we chatted a bit about the mall. It really is one of the (if not the) nicest mall I have been too and we talked about how expensive things there were. It really is a whole different side to Mexico. Like I have said before, the stores there are way to expensive for your average American but there were plenty of people there shopping today. Obviously there are people in Mexico who make a very nice living while others don't do as well.

Well, after that most of us parted ways. It was getting late and people wanted to get home. Some of us walked over to the Mega store (basically a Walmart or Shopko type place) to look for panchos in case it rained at Teotihuacan. This was another surprise to me. Like Superama, most of the things in this store were the same price as they would be back in the States. The clothes were even a little more expensive than I like to pay, but that may be my Kmart background showing through. Dee and some of the other gals bought some clothes and some hats but I decided not to. I don't want to spend my money on things that I could get for less back home. Dee and I also bought some foodstuff since we didn't think that we would be home in time to ask our mama for a lunch for tomorrow. Turns out she was still up and she knew we were going on an excursion, but our food didn't go to waste. Dee and I have discovered that Mexican Cheetos are pretty darn good. They have just a little bit of a burn to them, but they are tasty.

After that we were homeward bound and happy to get in. I want plenty of sleep so that we will be fresh for the pyramids. Also, everyone agreed that we should go to a movie next Wednesday. It is two for one night at the CineMex across from the galleria and Dee and I want to see how it compares to the one in the galleria that we went too.

That is all for now!
