Phew

I think things will be okay job-wise. Here's the whole story.

Saturday, I worked. My voice was at half-staff, but I managed.

Sunday, I signed up for some downtime, to rest my voice and try to get all this crud out of my system. The whole day wasn't available, but I could get about half the day off. (Downtime is approved time off for periods where it is expected the call volume will be light.) When I got up, I had no voice at all. My voice came out in a whisper, even when I tried to put some power into it. So, I went up to work and asked if all-day downtime was available. It was not. So, I called in. The guy at the front desk didn't blame me, because he could hardly hear me. :D Technically, then, I only missed the hours that I was not signed up for downtime.

Monday, today, I managed to go in. My voice was suffering horribly, but I did it. They finally gave me downtime around 4pm. My voice was this close to going out completely - they couldn't have sent me home at a better time (except earlier). The people on the phone mostly ignored my scratchy, barely-there voice. A few people said, "I hope you feel better!" All of Tuesday was available for downtime, so I signed up for it to recup. I really hope this shit clears up considerably over the next 24 hours. I am still so full of crud it's unbelievable. Where does all this snot come from?

Wednesday - working, no matter what.

Good thing! I got a surprise. I am getting holiday pay. My work has these weird whacked out rules about it. I didn't even work Thanksgiving, but I'm still getting holiday pay! I'm getting it because I worked the day before and my next scheduled day after. If I had worked Thanksgiving, I would have gotten the equal of two days pay. But since I didn't, I get one day's extra pay. That will help tremendously in the days I've missed being sick and junk! I'm so glad!! That takes so much worry off my shoulders. ^_^
