I shop in streaks. When I like something, I just go buy it. When it comes to books, I have the potential to go bananas. If I read a book by a good author, I'll go find another book by that author to read. And if both books are top-class to me, I go buy lots of that author's books.
It first happened with Tom Clancy... then Patrick Robinson... then Robert Ludlum... then, albeit to a lesser extent, Michael Crichton and John Grisham.
As most of you know, I travelled lots during my one year in the US. For me, time on the plane is best spent sleeping, and then reading. During one of my trips, I picked up this book One Shot by Lee Child. It was good. The book's hero is Jack Reacher, and I found out that all his earlier books are also centred on Jack Reacher. However, unlike Robert Ludlum's Prometheus Deception, One Shot didn't compel me to go on a massive Lee Child books buying spree.
While flying back from Norway last month, I found Lee Child's latest Jack Reacher book The Hard Way on the shelves of the airport book stores and bought it. It was also very good.
Today, while gallavanting around Parkway Parade, MPH was launching Lee Child's latest book Bad Luck and Trouble, and giving 20% off for all the rest of Lee Child's earlier Jack Reacher books. I went bananas...
... and came home $137 (what a nice number! ;-P) poorer but possessing 9 more Lee Child books.
It's a good thing I don't go bananas with designer goods...
