Really pissed off, I WANT my goddamned games!

In high school I met this girl named Amy.

I was friends with her for a while after HS ended, but eventually her mental problems and some of the lies that came with that pushed me away. I still hang around her older brother sometimes (and harbored a massive crush on him. A crush of nerdiness).

Before we "broke up" I lent her my NES. I had originally did it for a few Ponies, but over the course of that year she completely gave them up. I got to keep who I didn't have in my collection, and sell the rest on her behalf.

I still let her keep the NES, because I talk to her brother still and can easily get it if I decide I'd like it back. But for now, it was still okay for her to use it.

Today I got a text from Andrew saying that I could have the NES back. I rightly guessed that they had invested in one of those new machines that play the older games. Turns out the GameChamp near them is selling a machine that plays NES, SNES, and Genesis games.

I call Andrew after work to talk to him about this and how happy I am to get the NES back, and try and build up a small NES collection. He then put his sister on, which is the first time I spoke with her personally in a good year. Sometimes he'll put her on if I ask about her, or if I remember her birthday and want to check in, but we don't talk beyond that.

I start chatting about how I can't wait to play my Mario again.

And she reveals she "gave the games to the people at Game Champ and they said they'll see what they could do with them."

At first I thought she meant fix them, because the two Mario games I had (the combo that game with the NES and 3) and the unlicensed NES game had some age issues. My Marios were relatively fine but Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu was kinda bad.

NO.

SHE GAVE MY PERSONAL GAMES TO GAMECHAMP.

"They were really bad, Jessie." Don't care, my call, not yours.

"I didn't do it to be evil." No, but WHY DID YOU DO IT?!

Those were the only three childhood games I still had. That Mario one? My NES is the one with the trackpad. Its the original copy that came with that NES. They stopped making that cart and only released the Mario/Duck Hunt combo.

It was with that damn system for YEARS until you decided "Oh no, I'll just SELL THE THINGS THAT I WAS TRUSTED WITH AND BREAK UP A SET THAT'S BEEN INTACT SINCE THE 80s!" (non-direct quote)

Then she goes, "They have plenty of games, Jessie! they're probably still there!"

She neglected to mention until a few hours later that this happened TWO MONTHS AGO. The games are LONG gone, Game Champ only has 14 NES games. You want two copies of Simon's Quest? I can get you those!

My father beat that Mario game once. We found the true Princess.

A lot of memories in that cart. And now its gone.

I'm so goddamned heartbroken and upset. I did a LOT for her when we were still friends, and I can't help thinking this is her punishing me somehow,

ESPECIALLY since it was two months ago and she could have gone back and tried to retrieve them instead of talking me into taking a look.

By the way, I know this isn't a MAJOR THING for many of you, so I'm making a special tag. :it's okay not to care. It really is. If you don't care about this, don't worry. <3 I still love you.

But I still care.

And I wish I had my childhood carts back. They were the only ones left. They meant something to me. I trusted her with them.

And she traded them in.

rants, its okay not to care, nes, beda
