I'M UPSTATE!
I went upstate for my vacation! It was totally a surprise for crazy_catlady. She had NO IDEA!
GLEE!
My job takes about a week off every year for July 4th. Past two years Kiera's come down to me, but my house isn't the best place to stay, and we couldn't make other arrangements.
So I snuck up! XD I got here on Saturday and Papa Chris picked me up in Amsterdam (about 45 minutes away from Wells, where they are) and I totally surprised Kiera!
I'm here til Monday. She may even come into the city with me on the return trip she can visit her boyfriend, Craige, who lives near Atlantic City. Her first leg of the trip is down to Manhattan at the Port Authority bus terminal, where I end up as well. That's still up in the air though.
I haven't been up here without Steve in ages. Its a little weird, normally we'd be going into the towns every day and shop and such, but its going to be a fun mellow week. We already watched The Swan Princess, some George Carlin, and I introduced her to The Princess and the Frog last night!
Then we walked around to find fireworks. Up here it's really rural, and there's a lot of illegal ones being set off. We walked to the playground and hung out on the equipment in the dark, and there was fireworks going off in two directions. <3 We were there a good two hours. Nothing like a deserted playground at night in a safe area.
And the STARS! We don't see a lot in Staten Island. City ambiance and all that junk. Ask Steve, one of the first things I do when I step out of the car when he picks me up and drives me to his house is stare at the stars.
But there are SO MANY up here. I saw the Milky Way showing for the first time in years. I could cry.
I could cry at something else. My beloved tree house that I always wanted to buy when we hit the lottery has been cut and is being demolished.

My heart broke, the tree has been cut in half and the house is mostly gone right now as well. When I get home I'm going to e-mail the site and tell them and ask they try and leave up the page.
I wanted that house so badly...
Anyway, Kiera's still sleeping, so I'm gonna catch up on my friends list in the meantime. Don't know what we're gonna do today. Maybe it's time for a swim!
We went into the river yesterday, there was this rock she always wanted to sit on near the middle. We waded in, and I didn't get wet above the knees. Very slippery though, lots of rocks.
Then we hung out on the rock for awhile, but then Kiera realized she was sitting on baby leeches and we had to splash them off her clothes and legs before they got a hold.
We waded back and I slipped forward and got my shirt wet! XD We changed in the house.
It was so refreshing!
I just wish Steve and Danny were here. Then it'd be perfect. And Mama Beth. She's down in Florida right now. Grandma (Papa Chris's mom) is having back surgery and going through a divorce, so she's helping out.
