Thank you, hon! I don't know if I'll ever try to write anything this long again. It was so much more work than I anticipated and I don't think I did nearly as good a job as I could have due to poor time management on my part. Still, it was an adventure and I'm always up for adventure! If I ever try to do a big bang again, I'm going to start the outline as soon as the previous year's story gets posted. Ugh.

Thank you! I'm really sad you didn't get to play this year, but I know we're still going to get that amazing story anyway. The bits and pieces you posted were very exciting.

I KNEW YOU'D DO IT. You are truly amazing--always coming through in the clutch, just like a certain captain ;)

I really enjoyed beta-ing this even though I'm a complete Buffy virgin, but I'm in awe of the way you worked out the mythology, merging two not-very-compatible worlds but making Jim (and Jo's) backstory seem plausible and working it all out with the narrative device of a very worried and confused Bones who doesn't know what's going on but trusts Jim (eventually). Jim letting himself have feelings for Bones made a very sweet counterpoint to all the action, which was kick ass.

Jo's voice came through so strongly, and she seemed like a real teenager--curious and confused about all the strange things happening to her, which is kind of a nice metaphor for adolescence. I'm glad we got to see her in the flesh at the end! And I don't know who Illyria is, but Uhura + Illyria was ultra formidable. Splendid job, bb!

Thank you so much for the wonderful beta job! My writing is so peripatetic, it's remarkable that you were able to keep up with me.

I think I've learned a very valuable lesson from big bang. Start early. I don't know if I'm going to try to do this again next year, but I think any stories I write from now on I'm going to do much more detailed outlines before I ever start the writing process itself.

I felt I had to bring Jo in for a cameo. She was the spark for so much of the story, it wouldn't have been fair to leave the audience hanging. I left a lot of other stuff hanging, but not that! I had to short shrift so much of the end to finish this up. As long as the action was exciting, that's all I really hoped to achieve by the end. Next year (will I or won't I, who knows?) I'll have a complete outline ready to rock.

This was a whole lot of fun! I love the way you merged the two 'verses--not just in the cosmology, but in the feel--and it was delightful seeing all of the familiar names from the BtVS-verse cropping up all throughout the place. Clever, clever use of the Khan mythology in conjunction with the Old Ones.

Uhura as Illyria was absolutely inspired.

Aw, yay! I'm glad it all worked for you. I originally planned this story for last years ST Big Bang and it went bust on me because I was having a hard time merging all the disparate parts. It took almost a year of letting it stew before I felt I finally had all the kinks out and could make it work.

It's funny, but sometimes you just need to let big things like this sit for a while so you can get an idea of what the whole look like. The same thing happened to me with my SPN Big Bang - I started it last year, then realized I didn't have a handle on how the whole thing worked. This year, success!
