[ Drabble ] - Happy Ending

When Inoo Kei first experienced heartbreak, he wasn't quite sure how he would deal with it ; the fact that the girl he loved the most just said the lines an in-love guy wouldn't want to hear. Those words were just like bullets fired at him, right there at his heart and mind, leaving him a forgotten soul.
It took him not buckets, but rivers of tears to completely cry his heart out, literally. He just can't stop crying.
All this time, you were pretending, so much for my happy ending.
But there comes a time when he would just feel neutral ; nothing at all, especially when he's just sitting in the corner of his favorite cafe, a book in hand, things go quite smooth.
"If you really are happier with him, I'll deal with it." His nasty little thumb won't just move and press the 'send' button. Erase. Erase. Erase. He just can't, and probably, he will never be ready to face the fact that he's left, shattered into pieces, and he is indeed, a coward.
The sweet yet bitter scent of the frappuccino danced around his nostrils, relieving him from uni's stress. It was a Saturday morning, not much customers yet, leaving him in his spot alone now, the fact that someone used to sit in front of him.
"Here's the usual, Inoo-chan." Saya smiled at him. She's the girl behind the bar, and Inoo's friend.
"Thanks, Saya." Inoo smiled back.
"So how's uni?" She asked as she wiped the wet mugs by the sink.
"Tiring." He replied flatly.
"Oh~ I'll just leave you with your work then." She said happily as she went back to drying the mugs.

"Excuse me, is this the Physics lab?" A girl tapped Inoo by his shoulder and who could have known, as he turned around, he couldn't help but gasp a little girly. 'MEGUMI!' He thought. 'Damn! She looks like Megumi!' Inoo though again as he stared at this girl who looked like his past lover.
"Uh- I'm sorry. I was jus-" Her sentence was cut off.
"Yes." He butted in rudely, leaving her blinking. "-this is the Physics lab."
"Ah. Thank you. Sorry for scaring you out a while ago?" She didn't know exactly what to say. "I'm Meguri, by the way. Takada Meguri." She smiled as she let out a hand.
'What the actual fuck! They also have the same name! Only a letter differed!'
"I'm Inoo," He tried to hide his panic face. "Inoo Kei."

It was a total rush.
Inoo didn't quite remember how he got close with Meguri. That day when she shifted course and accidentally bumped into Inoo in the Physics lab was what we call fate ; and it was a total bliss. They started out as friends, and time seems to fly by rather quickly and they became close to each other, more of like super close friends, not best friend yet, because Daiki is Inoo's best friend.
And that time came when he asked her out on a real date, not 'hang-out' this time. A three letter word what we call 'yes' left Inoo grinning madly ; or did he just fell for another trap?
"So I'll meet you under the Sakura tree in the park then." Inoo bit his lower lip as he tried not to blush, but he just can't.
"Okay then~ I'll be there by around 3?"
"Mm. Sounds good-" He just blushed. "Three then. Uh. Night." He said as he turned around, leaving Meguri in front of her flat.
"Wait!" She said softly, but loud enough for Inoo to dash back in front of her.
"What?"
She tiptoed a kiss on his cheek. "Good night." She smiled as bit her lower lip. Inoo touched that exact spot where she had kissed him as he blushed all shades of red, leaving him grinning like madman the next second.

It was Saturday, nearly autumn and the ambiance is just perfect, but who could have thought that the fear of rejection would never leave Inoo? He went there hours earlier than expected, thinking what would happen if he took the risk of stepping up from the level of friendship.
She arrived at the meeting place 5 minutes earlier, and she was looking prettier than ever with her hair laid down.
'What the hell Kei!? Why are you such a coward!?' He asked himself. His palms were already sweaty, and so is his whole body.
'You don't deserve my love, Kei.' Those haunting phrases echoed in his head again, leading him to overdrive ; he can't take it. His feet won't move from where they were, so he just stared at her, waiting...waiting...waiting, until she saw her dialing on the phone, and he turned his off, knowing that it was him whom she's calling. She seemed annoyed, and so she decided to leave.
One step-
"Meguri!" Inoo yelled as he ran towards her. "Wait!"
Uh-oh, she's crying.
"Where were you!?" She asked, trying to hold back her tears. "It's been 2 hours, Kei!" Kei? Since when did she start calling him Kei?
"I...I-...I'm sorry. I mean- I really, really like you, but-"
"But what?"
"I was just checking if you really like me back and-"
He was cut off by a kiss.
"I don't like you, Kei." His eyes widened. "I love you." It grew bigger.
He wasn't expecting this at all.
"But-"
"I don't know how I fell for you, just don't ask, and if you're worried that I'll reject you...
I won't-" It was convincing. "You've told me everything, Kei. I know where you've been through and it really is not empathy. I think I'm...
in-love." Hearing those words made Inoo's knees weak. Was he dreaming?
"I love you, Meguri, and thanks for loving me back."
'This was too much for a happy ending, too much.' Inoo thought, yet he was smiling.
He just bent down and met her lips as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Knowing that people were staring, they really don't care.
"I love you." He whispered into her ear, which made her blush and bite her lip.
"Come on! I thought that we'll be spying on Dai-chan and Takaki-kun's date today?"
"Naw~ Let's just go to my house for today." He smirked sheepishly as he held her hand, entwining it the next second.
"Inoo Kei, you perv~"
