I feel so girly!

I went shoe shopping!

Um, okay, before you faint, I got some new running shoes. Ones that might not cramp my toes so much even (I have really narrow, almost no, heel and wide ball/toe area...which means I have cramped toes or twisted ankles when I wear shoes while my combat boots and be snugged around the ankle to compensate which may explain why I am not a shoe nut, but I probably would not be prone to be anyway). We did contemplate these due to my toe issues, but didn't even want to try them on as, well, obviously you can't with socks. And figured they'd be really expensive especially as they had no price on them and all the other shoes did. I also figured that while on the one hand they might be more comfortable for my toes, I actually remember toe socks, back in the '70s, being a bit annoying in their own way because my toes don't like to be separated either apparently. And checking out the site, as I was still rather interested, I see that there may be latex contamination although it's not used and I'm developing a sensitivity which is increasingly bad....and no barrier what with no socks.

But they'd be pretty nifty for a race I hope to do next year (conflicts with other potential plans this year). And no, I'm not going into details unless I decide to do it.

Aaron also got new runners.

I really can't tell you how happy I am that he's decided to start running with me. The whole "pack" goes, me with Gleann and he with the hounds. Gleann has always loved running with me and is such a nice running companion. Cù sometimes goes along fine but sometimes leaps in circle in the air in front of Aaron which is sort of a pace breaker. Aaron also has to keep watch on him or he'll bite at the nearest ass, which is often mine. Òrlaith loves anything that involves all of us on the move anyway. she's such a strange hound, all spooky hiding in the cushions when things are quiet but all happy and in the middle of things when there is commotion.

We also bought bag gloves. Because I like to sometimes come in from my run and do some time with the heavy bag, but stopping to wrap is more of a break than I want to do. Despite the fact I prefer to go wrapped with no gloves this routine will just go better if I glove without wrapping.

We also finally picked up an adjustable kettlebell. Sorry, I just am not going to buy a bunch and I see little point in "one weight for everything" as the body just doesn't work that way. Aaron is more interested in this than I am, I see it as a "active rest" activity. I'm still hooked on the free-weights and body weight combo and think it's the best main training method. But the more you can confuse those muscles the better.

We also got other random stuff, including groceries...realizing we forgot the cooler. However, we needed a new muck bucket (damn things do not last) and Aaron decided that that and a bag of ice would suffice and, well, I'll have to ask him if it did as I walked directly to the shower and went to bed. Then didn't sleep for the longest time as I ODed on coffee.

If I haven't mentioned it, but I'm sure I have, I am truly growing to hate being trapped in a nocturnal world. But I don't see much chance of it changing soon.

I'm eating a way late lunch and I think tonight is a wash for anything really productive. I have thought about doing some cleaning but...uh, ....maybe tomorrow night. I think I will post a couple of new SCCS Honorary degree links and call it a night. I will likely get Aaron up a bit later than usual for our run, as my sleeping in caused him to sleep in.

I so need to return to the day.
