Title : WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN TOMORROW
Genre : Romance/ General
Rating : T bordering on R
Pair : Gan Ning / Lu Xun

That night, the breeze of wind ran slowly between the hollowed windows of one of the most grandiose palace that belongs to the Wu Kingdom of China. The stars were shining beautifully on the dark sky of the night as silence crept down the palace, stretching out a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere.
Gan Ning, an ex-pirate general of Wu, was sitting alone on the stairs to the main hall. His spiky hair blew about on his face as small breezes past him. Small bells attached to his belt rung softly. His brown eyes that wandering on the clear sky were empty and dull.
From afar, a teen with honeyed brown hair which was mostly covered by a red hat, gazed at him with admiration. His beautiful golden eyes were lighting up and full of brightness. He is Lu Xun, a young and talented strategist who was just promoted as the supreme commander of the Wu army a week ago.
“Gan Ning…” he whispered softly as he felt his heart pounded faster. Lu Xun drifted his hand on his chest and clinched his fist. He couldn’t help it; he did feel this unknown and unmentionable feeling every time he put his eyes on the pirate, ever since that day, on the battle of Yi Ling.
On that day, Lu Xun caught up by a young officer from Shu, named Zhao Yun. At the beginning, the young strategist could handle the situation and almost win, until the Tiger General drew out his final technique and made Lu Xun wounded so badly that he couldn’t get up. When he yielded to receive the last finishing act from the Little Dragon, Gan Ning and Ling Tong showed up and helped him.
That was, when the little Lu Xun heard the most undeniable words from the pirate.
“Are you stupid or what? Why don’t you try to save yourself? Do you think you can be a hero if you do that? Idiot!!!! Don’t you know how will every one feel if you die here? Every one here-me, Ling Tong, and even Lord Sun Quan-would feel very sad if you die. Don’t you understand? We really care for you!”
That words made the heart of little Lu Xun touched. Gan Ning, and every one, was caring for him? He never felt that way. He thought that every thing would be fine if he brings the best strategy every time they fight. He never thought of how every one would feel if he suddenly died in battle. That’s just it.
Then he remembered how he felt when Zhou Yu and Lu Meng died due to their illness. He felt very lost on both of them. He felt his heart torn when he called on the memories of the officers, especially Lu Meng, who had been his greatest mentor ever. His mind called the memories when Lu Meng died. He remembered the sense of Lu Meng’s cold hand, the dull gazes of Lu Meng’s eyes, those of the eyes of the dead….
He cried.
Oh… how he was so sad about them. Was everyone going to feel the same too when he dies?
He wiped away his tears and stared back to Gan Ning, who was examining his Sea Master now. That way, he suddenly felt an odd sensation spread throughout his body when he saw the pirate. His mind suddenly full of the memories of that night and the memories of other moments they shared together.
Ohhh… how could this be? He muttered.
Was he… falling in love with Gan Ning?
He remembered all the memories he had on his smart brain. Yes… he remembered how they were very close. He remembered when Gan Ning had to help him when two of them accidentally broke the plates in the kitchen, how Gan Ning protects him when they were in a battle, or how Gan Ning always there when Lu Xun needs advices…
What beautiful memories… He was very happy those days.
Yes… he did fall in love with Gan Ning.
Oddly, Ling Tong happened to read Lu Xun’s mind. He called Lu Xun last evening and told him to tell the truth of his feelings to Gan Ning. That time, Lu Xun laughed and said that no way he could have a special interest on the pirate. But Ling Tong just smiled and said, “You can lie to me. But you can’t lie to yourself. Believe me, tell him the truth as soon as possible. Gan Ning’s a bit clumsy. He’s always slow to read someone’s mind. So better say it to him quickly. Who knows what will happen tomorrow?”
Lu Xun choked. He knows what Ling Tong referred to. He referred to death. Yes, no one knows when they would die.
Lu Xun thought that for a long time before he decided to tell the ex-pirate the truth about his feelings. Tomorrow, they will have a fierce battle with the Shu army on Bai Di Castle. That would be the greatest battle they would ever have with the Shu army. So, maybe, one of them could get killed in the battle.
Yes, I must tell him, he whispered.
I must tell him… the truth of my feelings… that… that I love him… more…than anyone… ever….
That was on his mind. But, his feet didn’t agree with him. He tried to move his feet, but they stick on where they were. He can’t move… He can’t move even a bit. Why? Why it’s so hard to tell Gan Ning his feelings? This was the easiest task he had, but why he can’t do it?
Lu Xun trembled and leaned to the wall behind him. His tears began to run slowly down his cheeks. What’s with these tears? He wiped his tears harshly but the tears won’t go away. He suddenly felt so small and useless.
I had to tell him now… please…move…he said to himself.
Please… MOVE!!!

Gan Ning was wiping his Sea Master when he heard a sob from behind a wall of the grand palace. He made his way down the stairs and walking towards the source of the sobbing.
There, he found someone familiar, with the red silk robe and crimson hat, was crouching down under the shadow of the roof. Brown, honeyed bangs, drifted wildly across his face, hid the owner’s face perfectly from Gan Ning’s eyes.
“Lu Xun?” he asked.
The teen was surprised. He quickly wiped the tears on his face and stood. “G-Gan Ning? I mean…Sir! I-I’m sorry… I was...”
Gan Ning approached the little young strategist and put his strong hand on his face. “Why did you cry? It’s not like you,” he asked.
Lu Xun shivered a bit from the move and he realized that his face began to flush. “I-I’m okay, Sir,” he stammered.
Gan Ning laughed, his laughter was clear and joyful. “Hey, what’s up with you, kid? Having a nightmare? Couldn’t get sleep?” teased the pirate. “Or you just too afraid of the battle tomorrow?”
“I-I’m not afraid and I don’t have any nightmare! Even if I have I still can get to sleep!” said Lu Xun, defending himself. Gan Ning sneered, “Oh yeah? Then why did you wander around here this late?”
“Nothing, I just… I just don’t feel asleep at all…” Lu Xun lied.
“Then, why didn’t you accompany me? I’m pretty lonely this night. Come on, I want to teach you how to play Go!” said the older man, grabbed Lu Xun’s hand and dragged him to his room.

The two Wu generals made it to Gan Ning’s room. Lu Xun walked in and sat nervously on Gan Ning’s bed, while Gan Ning shut the door and turned on the lantern on the table in the middle of the room. The small light lit up the room and made it warmer and cozier than before.
“So? Care for some game?” asked the former pirate.
Lu Xun cleared his throat, “Umm... No… I guess…”
Gan Ning realized the odd behavior of the little strategist and sat beside him. “Hey, I know you have somethin’ on your mind! Come on tell me! Maybe I could help you!”
Lu Xun clinched his fist and once again, he thought in his mind. I had to tell him… this is the chance….
“Lu Xun?”
“S-sir… I… I want to tell you something…”
“Hmm? So what will it be? Spit it out!” said Gan Ning cheerfully.
Lu Xun tilted his face. His eyes widened. Gan Ning suddenly felt his heart pounded faster.
Lu Xun... Why he looked so damn serious? But he’s sorta cute with that look on his face…Hey…. What am I thinking right now? Gan Ning thought in his mind.
Lu Xun cleared his throat before his voice finally ran out, “Sir Gan Ning…I want you to know that… that I… that I love you…”
Gan Ning’s eyes widened in shock, but Lu Xun didn’t care anymore. He felt his heart lightened. He had told it, and it was enough for him. He didn’t care if Gan Ning will hate him after this night.
“Lu Xun… I don’t know… do you… do you really… love me?”
“With all my hearts, Sir,” Lu Xun’s voice calmed. “I love you. And that is the truth. But, maybe you’ll think I’m crazy because I said this to you… well, I guess you’ll hate me after this,“ he continued, sighing desperately.
Gan Ning gazed on the young strategist with mixed feelings. Lu Xun… I never knew that he had that feeling to me…I just don’t know…did I… thought the same thing too?
But then he recalled the memories he had with the young strategist. He remembered the way the boy smiled to him. He remembered when Lu Xun’s faithfully stayed beside him when he was injured. He remembered when Lu Xun cried and shared his feelings to him. He remembered how cute the boy was when he wasn’t wearing his hat and sleeping tiredly on his lap…
Maybe I did…
“Sir Gan Ning?”
Gan Ning suddenly put his hand on Lu Xun’s cheek and drove away his loose honeyed bangs from his face. The young boy startled from the moves but he didn’t back away. Lu Xun felt his face was being observed when Gan Ning’s finally stopped stroking his cheek and leaned closer to him, kissed him right on the lips. The young officer blinked in surprised, but he gradually melted and yielding to Gan Ning’s touch. He circled his arms around the former pirate’s neck and deepened the kiss.
When the kiss finally broke, he said nothing, put his face on Gan Ning’s bare chest. “Well, I guess, THAT will answer all the questions you had in mind,” said Gan Ning, grinning widely to the young strategist.
The teen smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, I guess so…”
“So, dare to try one?”
“Hmm? I thought you had given up asking me to play Go,” asked the boy confused.
“No, not that kind…” said Gan Ning, suddenly his voice turned ever so soft. He pushed the boy in front of him gently until Lu Xun’s head touched the pillow. He whispered softly on Lu Xun’s ear, “I mean… this one…”
Lu Xun felt the former pirate’s lips brushed his neck. His hand slid on Lu Xun’s silky shirt and started unbuttoning it one by one. And when the strong hands of Gan Ning caressed his bare chest and observing underneath his pants, he suddenly felt very relaxed.
“Yeah…Sure…I guess I’ll try one…” answered Lu Xun between his heavy breaths, surrendering once again to the pirate.

The next day…
“Everyone! From now on, we shall pay what had the Shu people did to us! We shall bring victory to this battle and show them the Wu’s power!!!” shouted Lord Sun Quan to his massive soldiers, burning them in spirit. The soldiers began to yelled wildly and shouting, “Wu for victory!” and their lord’s name. Sun Quan raised his hand and waved his hand.
Behind him, stood the Wu generals : Zhou Tai, Huang Gai, and Ling Tong. They stood bravely and looked very bold under the sun. Lu Xun and Gan Ning were also standing between the Wu generals. They smiled confidently with their swords on their hands. They have prepared for the worst in this last battle on Bai Di Castle. They won’t regret if they die in this battle. Because they have finally recognized to each other and realized their feelings.
Maybe they would die today… but maybe they won’t….
Well… who knows what will happen tomorrow?
