She was awake early, restless and full of nerves.

It's not time yet, but it's nearly so, and still she can't quite believe it's real.

But oh, as she looks at the things neatly arranged in preparation, Susan Delgado is smiling.

Elaine comes up to Susan's door, her arms full of lilies in gold and white.

She hopes they will be what Susan is looking for. She knocks on the door.

"Come in," she calls. "It's not locked--"

Elaine manages the door and bustles in with the flowers. "Good morning, Susan. Here are some lilies for you. I hope they're right..."

She smiles when she sees the wedding gown. "Oh, your dress is lovely, Susan."

"Thankee-sai, Elaine," she says simply. But oh, she is beaming, and when she sees the flowers, she clasps her hands together in delight.

"Oh, they're beautiful--"

Elaine beams as well. "Oh, I'm so glad you think so, Susan. You must be so excited."

"I am-- it almost doesn't seem real," she laughs.

"I imagine it doesn't. I feel the same way upon waking sometimes." She smiles. "But you look lovely as the dawn, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cuthbert's mouth falls open in astonishment."

Susan certainly looks quite radiant today.

She blushes at this, laughing still, and reaches out to put her hands over Elaine's so that they are holding the flowers together.

"Do'ee think so? That'd be a sight indeed, say true."

"I certainly do think so, you lucky girl." Elaine gives her a sisterly kiss on the cheek. She laughs and then asks, "So what will you do with all these lovely lilies?"

"I'd thought to wrap the stems with ribbon and carry them as a bouquet," she explains. "Mayhap with a few silkflowers-- I've always liked the blue ones -- and that'll be pretty, I think."

"It sounds most lovely, indeed. Would you like help to make the bouquet? I'd be happy to help, and keep you company for a little while."

"If ye'd not mind it," she says-- and the expression on her face is one of delighted hopefulness.

"Oh, I wouldn't mind at all. I'd be happy to help." She lays the lilies carefully upon a free space on Susan's bed.

Susan goes to her closet and takes down a box, which is revealed to have spools of silk ribbon in varying widths, in colors white, gold, and blue. She pulls out three lengths, one in each color, and carries them over to join Elaine.

"I thought mayhap this would do well?"

Elaine nods. "Oh, yes. And do you have the other flowers here?" She's already beginning to lay out the lilies carefully for a bouquet.

There's a shelf near the desk in front of the window, a shelf with leather-bound books, carefully kept.

It also holds a vase, filled mostly with blue silkflowers, scattered with a few other wildflowers she's found.

(flowers of the the Drop)

Susan crosses to the shelf and takes the flowers from the vase, blotting the stems dry with her sleeve, then brings them back.

"Here." A beat. "They were always my favorite, growing up."
