The sky is grey, almost white. The rain falls steadily, soaking his clothing. He doesn’t care, he barely even notices.

He’s walking, alone, on first beach. He’s not sure why, but he just wants to think.

Think about a lot of things.

Jacobs life has changed dramatically within a year. He cant yet get his mind wrapped around the thought that Bella, his Bella, might be one of them right now.

He’s tired. Tired not only from phasing, but mentally, he’s drained. So many restless nights, spent crying quietly.

Jacob isn’t that sunshine he used to be.

-

She doesn’t feel the same way anymore. She’s scared now.

She wants to leave, but she can’t.

-

The rain is still falling when Jacob decides to sit on their tree. Tears escape his dark eyes.

He wants nothing more then to see her again. See her dark, curly hair. Her smile. Her rosy cheeks.

He wants to hear her heart beat.

-

Bella isn’t ready, she’s never been.

Edward knows something isn’t right.

Bella doesn’t want to hurt Edward. She doesn’t want to do what he did to her.

Bella chooses not to go to the Cullen’s house today.

-

Jacob sobs quietly to himself, the rain is heavier now.

He is in love with her and he hates himself for that.

-

Bella tells Edward that she is going to clean the house today, and spend time with Charlie.

Little does he know that Charlie is going to see Billy today.

Charlie is distant from Bella now-a-days. Ever since she told him of her and Edwards engagement.

But he’s never been the type to hold grudges. So they pile in the cruiser and head to la push.

-

Jacob cant take this anymore.

He hates this.

Everything.

Love.

Vampires.

Edward.

The Cullen’s.

Being a werewolf.

Bella.

The rain is heavy at this point, drowning out the sound of the approaching cruiser.

-

Bella greets Billy as happy as she can be.

Billy tells her that Jake is down on the beach.

Bella starts her way to the beach not knowing what she feels.

She misses the sunshine.

A few minutes later, Jacob is in her sight. His bare back is hunched over. His face in his hands.

Her stomach does a summer salt.

She doesn’t want to scare him so she pauses and says, “Hi Jake.”

His head shoots up and looks around. When his eyes see her, he jumps up and runs over to her, scooping her up in his arms.

“Bells!” His voice cracks.

Their hearts are beating quicker.

Jacob sets her back onto the ground, and steps back.

“What is going on?” He asks warily. “Why are you here?”

“I-I don’t know. I don’t know anymore.”

He looks at her. He really looks at her, and he sees the girl he did, before he became the monster he is now.

“What do you mean?” His voice more sure.

“I don’t want to be that.” She looks down at the soggy sand.

“Be a-”

“I’m scared.” She lifts her head and their eyes meet.

-

His hands are hot against her damp skin. She cant move quick enough, she cant get all she wants.

Their breath is hot and his body is heavy on hers.

His wet hair is dripping on to her face, sizzling off her skin.

He whispers, “I love you.” in to her ear. She melts even more. Her hands race up and down his back.

One big hand reaches under her and holds on to the small of her back. He pulls her up, closer to him.

She arches her back, screaming his name.

-

Alice sees Bella disappear. She tries to hide her thoughts from Edward, but he knows. He’s known it since he came back.

-

Jacob’s heart is beating out of control, the beast inside him is taking control.

And she likes this.

-

Edward begins to worry when the night draws on. He sits, unmoving , on Bella’s chair in her room. He hears Charlie’s thoughts. He watches inside Charlie’s mind.

Charlie looks in the passenger seat, where Bella should be, but instead, Billy sits.

When they enter the house, they’re laughing about the fishing trip they took today. They had to turn in early due to the storm.

Edward hears Billy mention Jacob. Then Bella, and how Jacob will bring Bella home late. They need to catch up.

Edward believes they are doing just that, and more.

-

Jacobs not tired one bit.

Bella is numb, limp and aching.

She wants more, this feeling, forever.

-

Charlie complains about Bella and Edwards engagement.

Billy reassures him, she’ll make the right choice.

-

Jacobs muscles are twitching under his dark skin.

Bella is on top if him now, straddling him. She presses her chest to his. He takes a deep breath in, taking in all of her scent.

Bella’s mind is racing, she doesn’t know how this happened, yet she knows exactly the reason.

She’s always loved the sun.

-

Edward waits in Bella’s room. Silent.

He knows what her choice is. And if he weren’t already dead, he’d be now.

-

Bella’s asleep now. Jacob watches the rise and fall of her chest.

He can’t believe she’s right next to him.

He can’t believe that that even happened.

What was she going to tell Edward?

He smirks and nods off.

-

In the morning Bella rushes out the door promising to return to Jacob.

His heart is scared.

Bella rushes home, her mind in a haze, her body weak.

Charlie is gone, already at work. She sees Edwards silver Volvo parked down the street.

She feels horrible, so horrible. She cant even believe what she’s done. Nothing she’s ever done could ever compare to this.

-

Edward can now hear the truck roar to a stop. He starts to smell her scent, it different.

Werewolf.

And it’s all over her.

And it’s all over for him and his future.

He, of course, like the gentleman he is, hugs her when she bursts through the door, crying.

He lets her sob in her arms for a few moments then releases his grip. She wipes her face off with her sleeve and says sorry. And that she didn’t mean for this to happen.

“I never wanted to hurt you. Or him. Or anyone! I’m a horrible person, I know. I hate myself!” She yells.

His face is not struck with any emotion. He knows this is what he’s always wanted, for her to be safe, and not love him.

But still, he wants her to love him.

He loves her.

And he always will.

He says almost nothing, just a whisper to be happy. He kisses the top of her head and leaves.

His mind is disconnected from the world, forever.

-

Bella cleans herself up. She knows she’s hurt so many people. She has to start getting over things. Stop acting like the world is against her. She should be happy. There’s no reason not too.

She’s got a great family, friends, and someone who loves her dearly.

She promises that she’ll be happy, not only for Edward, but for herself.

And Jacob.

-

Hours past by and he’s getting anxious. He wonders if he should call her, make sure that she’s still going to come back.

Then Jacob hears Bella’s truck, his heart slows and he relaxes.

She finally chose him.
