This is kind of hard for me to write about since it just happened and I wish I could go back in a time machine to recreate it for myself and the rest of you.
So I just saw Pinback at the Magic Stick. First things first, I saw Rob Crow walking by me and I held up my left hand and said heyeyyy or something similar and he totally didn't see it, so I felt like a dumbass. Bummer. Then as soon as they started playing I magically moved my way up to the second row right in front of Rob. The set list was in full view and I can't even believe how good it was. And I have proof, because after the night was over I jumped on stage and took one off the keyboard. It says "Bloods On Fire, The Yellow Ones, Syracuse, Non-Photo Blue, Microtonic Wave, Concrete Seconds, Boo, Soaked, X.I.Y., Penelope, Talby, Grey Machine, Offline P.K., Tripoli, Loro, Fortress, A.F.K., Prog, Shag, Manchuria, June." But see, I couldn't see the last four songs because they are written in small writing all at the very bottom of the page, as their encore. So yes, I still kept yelling "JUNE!" all night because I enjoy being an asshole. The only songs that I think were missing were Seville and Tres, and I know they played Seville in Kalamazoo and it's a pretty upbeat crowd-pleaser so I'm surprised. But Tres is kinda my own personal thing and I already had all "my" other songs in full view so it's good to keep one to myself :) So anyway, after Manchuria, Rob Crow gets on the mic and goes "hey I know there was a girl here earlier who tried to give me a big high five and I totally didn't notice until it was too late so she probably thought I was a huge asshole so I am sorry"... which is me so I'm like "I FORGIVE YOU!" and then they launched into June which I had been asking for all night - seriously, THIS HAPPENED. I got a public shoutout from the one and only Rob Crow. Geeeez. Also I got Zach to write "4 9 5 3 1" on my neck but I forgot to tell him before he wrote it that it was for a tattoo possibly, so it looks too shitty to get inked. But I'm seriously considering making a trace sheet from the liner notes. This probably sounds crazy but I've wanted to do it for forever, and I do need a tattoo.
I didn't find a husband but I'm cool with it considering NO ONE around me was even into it, they didn't deserve me. My husband is Pinback. I got home all crazylike and I tried to watch TV but my right eye kept tearing up, I think it's cause you can't follow an experience like Pinback up with a bunch of commercials.
I'll write about the rest of last week later, it was all gravy but we have no internet in our house anymore so yeah, later.
