grumpy old man
i think 29 is the age that you turn in to a grumpy old man because i have been one. i feel like that guy on 60 minutes who gets 2 minutes every week to bitch about everything in the world. well i am that now.

and now, i am just really thinking about putting up a fight at awana's. first of all, i hate awanas. hate them. i know they have good qualities, but they suck. anyway, as part of the requirements to be a spark she has to learn not just bible verses (which i am not opposed to except that i think understanding them is so much more important) but also the pledge to the american flag and to the awana flag. my grumpy old man comes out and says no way. first, i have deep, deep issues with pledging to the american flag. one needs only look at germany for the problem with a christian getting wrapped up in nationalism. but still i let my kids do it and i won't talk to them about it until much much later. but the awana flag? screw it.
