Actual update
So I don't feel like finishing those last two China entries right now, I'll get to 'em later. Since I haven't done an actual update in ages, this is a little bit strange. I don't have set things to write about, so I'm free to ramble. And I love rambling.
So it's summertime, and I'm working working working. Painting houses with one of those good ol' college painting schemes. It's not particularly hard work, and it's outdoors, and the time seems to go by very fast, which is nice. The hours are very good too, 9-5 on weekdays. So I have a low-stress, outdoor, and generally easy job (except for the ladders). What's the downside? The money, of course. Naturally, it's been nowhere near as high paying as it was made out to be. Now, I would have been naive to not expect such a result, and though I am not naive, it is still lower than I would have liked. They told us 10 bucks an hour, I expected maybe 9. It's probably around 7.50, maybe even less, in actuality. This is because of the payment format, which is based on the amount of work you do. In other words, any time the brush is not physically touching the house, you're not getting paid. That downtime adds up...like crazy. Plus, if our manager underestimates houses (and we have a sneaking suspicion that that is his secret to booking all the houses he gets), we get screwed, cause we'd have to be faster than average just to meet the quota. Bah. It's still and always going to be better than Tim Hortons.
I've been hanging out with groups of people that I didn't often hang out with in the past, and it's good times. Last summer, I saw my older friends on occasion, and hung out with random assortments of others on other occasions. And I got mopey halfway through it, too. If I recall, last summer was kinda socially dull. And I didn't practice my trumpet effectively last summer either. The whole summer was kind of a bust. But I got a good vibe this time around, it's gonna be fun and relaxing. I bought a month of Warcraft, cause I was bored, and it was sweet for a week. But I don't know if I'm gonna be able to maximize the value of those 15 bucks, cause I lose interest quick these days. Ah well.
And lastly, I'm infinitely more in shape than I used to be, and that's always nice. Maybe not infinitely, but you get the idea. Look at some high school pictures compared to now, you'll see.
B-day is in a few days. June 8th. So I guess that makes it...Thursday! The big 20. Boring age. Maybe I'll do something, maybe I won't. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. In three days. Alright, bye.
