Been busy all morning.
Tyler had his 9-month check up this morning...no shots thank goodness! However, I did ask for a flu vaccine since we now know that he can get really wheezy and miserable when he has a cold. I really didn't want to but Alvin and I had a huge debate last night (and caused us to go to bed fuming) regarding vaccinations. I'm not completely against immunizing our children; but there seem to be so many risks associated w/ the vaccines themselves than the actual disease. On the Today show this morning, they were actually talking about vaccines and parents against them. Quite coincidental since I was just about to get ready to take Ty to the doctor's. Hopefully the shot will help him this ful season. We need to go back in a month for the part 2 of the shot.
I was sad to hear that my baby is only 3rd percentile in weight! He weighs 17lbs 2oz...but everything else, height and head circumference, he's about 50-60th percentile. I swear, I don't starve my kids. But I don't force feed them either. I guess he's been sick the past week with asthmatic symptoms AND stomach flu (plus being a super active baby)...so all those combined could've made him weigh so little. The pediatrician wants him to eat lotsa fatty food (butter on his bread, avocado, bananas) for the next 4 weeks and she'll weigh him again then.
I feel like Walgreens is now my second home these days. We've gone there so many times the past week for both my kids' medication (cough, wheezing, cold for Tyler; dermatology-related ointments and antihistamines for Jolie). They've already taken so much of my money from co-pay too...but what's a parent to do?
After the doctor's appointment, I rushed all the way to Jolie's school because she was having a jog-a-thon fundraiser. I felt so bad for missing the running part....I totally missed it but the doc's office and her school are about 30 mins apart from each other. The Kinders were all dressed in PINK! We of course had NO trouble at all finding a ridiculously pink outfit to wear. Even the boys were wearing pink! How cool was that! The kids had jamba juice and pizza afterwards.
Heading to the Bay Area tomorrow for Jolie's dental appointment....after hula lesson but that means she'll miss her ballet and soccer game. When will I ever have a "kid-activity-free" weekend all to myself?
