After days of deliberation, the hubby and I have agreed on sending Jolie to a
private school. That would mean really stretching our budget quite a bit. I'll be calling the admissions director later and hopefully there's still a spot for her.
There's been issues at her current preschool that I'm really unhappy with. The previous director suddenly quit in January to move to Maui. For about 2 months, there was no one in charge of the school. Then, just late last month, Jolie's teacher stopped showing up. She had "personal issues" with her former ex-boyfriend and he'd made threats to her while she was at work. The new director felt the children's safety might be in danger so the teacher was let go. Now, Jolie really isn't doing much in school academically. I'd always ask what did you learn in school today? or what was the letter or number of the day? and she would reply that she just played. Nothing is structured anymore since her teacher left. I feel like she can learn more just by staying home! She's bringing home all sorts of sick germs and now Tyler is sick AGAIN!
The last issue doesn't directly involve the school itself, more the neighborhood surrounding it. I was approached by a homeless guy last week after picking up Jolie and he'd ask me for money. This whole time I was strapping the kids into their carseats. When I refused to give him $, he reached in my car and tried to touch Jolie. I pushed him away and told him to stop. Thankfully, a man nearby shooed him away. When I told the director the next day what had happened, he immediately called the CHP and the Dept of Justice (which the preschool is affiliated with) and made me file a police report. When the highway patrol officer came, he lectured me about how I should've called 911 yesterday right after the incident, and how they'd never find that guy now after so many hours. But I told him it was not MY intention to file a report. I had only told the new director what had happened to make other parents aware of the situation. Then the director goes and mass email the parents about what had happened to me, but the email was really berating. Even another parent whom I'm really close to told me she felt the email belittled me too. I knew it was just a bum asking for money but the director just had to make me file a report and blow things out of proportion. *sigh* It was such a waste of my time! I definitely will pull her out in mid-May and find other activities for her to do.
