One of the things I love about Anna, our de facto leader over at Revival Burlesque is that she's a goregeous, talented woman with the biggest, loudest, most infectious guffaw I've ever heard.
She was stressed at our tech rehearsal last night, practically to the point of despair last night. I suspect she is, or will be like this on every tech rehearsal, as one of the girls told me last night was the most together, prepared and ready-to-go that we've ever been. She also told me that the troupe was evolving into something bigger and more elaborate, and that she viewed me as part of that evolution. I'm thrilled.
But yeah, Anna was not a happy pastie-twirler last night. There was a lot of fuss about one of her routines, a dance inside a translucent bag of silver fabric, meant to simulate one of Andy Warhol's art installations. All I needed to do, while demonstrating in the bag while she fussed with the lights, was turn it into MISS MILLER'S FOURTH GRADE CLASS PRESENTS ANDY WARHOL.
She was all guffaws in an instant.
I feel much better about this show than the last one. My to-do list for this week is much, much shorter and I only have one costume to fuss over. The flipside of that is I have to do the show three times. That's okay...I didn't really want to have a weekend...
