latest circus post. Kansas City is pretty cool. Of all the cities I've visited this year, KC is one that I could seriously see myself living in. Will have to keep an eye out for any orchestra spots haha.
While here I got myself a rental car which turned out to be a huge waste of money. I wanted to make sure that I'm still an 'ok' driver before getting my car back this fall. Yeah, ok, that's stupid. It's been almost 8 months since I drove, though. Better safe than sorry?
For that I guess it was worth it. But it was expensive and unnecessary, and in case you can't tell I'm guilting over it.
I also got a hotel room for one night, COMPLETELY unnecessary. It was just something that I wanted to do. Guilty as charged.
**WARNING male readers: "girl stuff" is about to be discussed. If you can't/don't want to handle it, read no further.**
Much of this pandering that I gave myself was due to my first gynecological exam. For some reason I got the impression that this was supposed to be a traumatic/invasive procedure. Turns out they just stick a metal tube up your cooch and have a look at various guts. It felt little different than a tampon actually, and was very fast, and the ladies performing the exam were careful and gentle, knowing it was my first time.
The reason for the test, in case I haven't mentioned it, is that I haven't had my period since Mexico (we were there from mid-May to mid-June, so it's been like 3-4 months). This could be for any number of non-serious reasons: stress, hormonal imbalance, low fat diet, more exercise than in the past. But you never know and with my family's medical history (grandpa dead at 38, mom dead at 42), better safe than sorry.
They didn't find anything unusual in the exam. They did have me pee in a cup in case I'm pregnant (if I am, it's immaculate conception!!) and of course there are the pap results to look forward to. They put me on some hormone to try and kick-start my uterus. I'm about halfway through that and it's not working. Sigh.
So, anyway, I got a hotel room and enjoyed rolling around in the king bed and watching tv and sleeping on a solid surface for once.
For our upcoming Thanksgiving break, I've decided to fly in to PA, stay a week, drive to NC for the weekend and back to PA for the holiday, then fly down to FL for winter quarters. I was going to drive my car down so I could have it for the month, but haven't figured out a way to get it back north without terribly inconveniencing someone (self included).
Jeremy and Charlie are coming home from the UK!
They'll be moving back stateside this fall. REALLY hoping to see them.
