By some minor miracle, the bookstore had a copy of the Asch the Bloody manga today, so I impulsively nabbed it in spite of not actually liking Asch, mostly because I reasoned to my friend that it has my precious baby Ion in it.
hahaha wow that is sad
Anyway, if you were on the fence about it, be on the fence no longer! I was a little skeptical, mainly because of the whole not liking Asch thing, but the manga is pretty well thought out and the art is consistently good. The translation could be a little better, but that's the opinion of someone who sometimes proof-reads scanlations as a hobby. They did make some weird mistakes, though; I think Asch (or someone?) refers to Ion as "the Ion" at some point, and there seems to be an overt amount of affection for sentences starting with "......", which looks a little derpy.
Oh, and Asch has thus far not used the word "dreck", which is... kind of a welcome change, if you ask me. I never liked that word. :V
If you watched the anime/played the game/whatever, you shouldn't have any kind of trouble, however, and it gives some pretty good insight into the God General side of things. If you're into graphic novels and you like TotA, I'd definitely pick it up, no fondness for Asch required!
