Okay, magic journal, when we left off, we'd just decided to check out the spooky cave near town, so let's get to it!

Right inside, I found a new friend with a campfire.

Her interests include fire, hanging out in dank caves, and stabbing me repeatedly.

Journal, I'm starting to think she's not so friendly. but she's a tiny woman with a tiny knife, and neither of those really stands up to a good axe very well, so I lost my new friend. But don't worry about me, magic journal; I still have you.

She had a little bit of gold and a key, so I took both. More on that later--my new friend had a friend, and he's throwing fire at me!

I guess it was her grandmother's cave, because then she came out and throwing cookies at me. They were very hard, and sharp at the edges, and one cut my arm kind of badly. She must have had her friend with the fire to help cook. Isn't it sad how old people go crazy?

I barely even chopped her when she fell down and broke a hip. Oh, well. They were lousy cookies, anyway.

There were some crates, and with no one to bother me I decided to do some shopping.

((A note about what you're seeing, here: in Morrowind, booze, potions, and alchemy ingredients can have up to four effects. Your ability to identify those effects is based on your alchemy skill, of which Jarl has virtually none. A little bit more skill in alchemy would let us see a given item's primary effect, but not any of its side-effects. Until and unless we ramp up our alchemy skill, we'll have to use the Mr. Yuk method of potion testing. We now return you to your regularly scheduled rampage, already in progress.))

Let's see, scrolls, funny powder, booze, potions... a bug-armor pauldron and gauntlet that are slightly better than nothing, and...

This is more like it! Some proper fire-on-a-stick! It's just as well, that little candle just burned out.

Farther in, there was water, and a rat (hardly worth mentioning, but who knew rats could swim? Big damn rat, too), and some mushrooms growing on old bones. I found some gold there, and another warm-tingly ring. Can you see it there, journal?

Oh, I see now. Magic journal, the cavern goes in a loop. And up the other way, there are... prisoners?

No, not prisoners. A cat-man and two Argonians, and not a shirt to divide among the lot of them. They all have pants, at least, but... journal, these people are slaves. That's what the key I found earlier is for.

How about it, journal? How do we feel about slavery?

((This is your first really big choice, Sages. There's lots of slaves on Vvardenfell, and I'm going to carry the stance we take here throughout the game.

I've also tried a few different things to make the screenshots look better, since the last ones seemed washed out. Does it look better this way, the way it was, or should I keep monkeying?

And finally, this is the fourth post for Jarl, a solid month of weekly updates. Are you enjoying it? Am I using too many pictures, not enough? Are they too small, too large? If you've never played the game, is your unfamiliarity turning you off? Tell me what you think, Sages, I need the feedback.))
