Rononlin makes a surprised noise, unsure of what to make of these little ones. He adjusts the sunglasses. "Yes, little ones. I come from a world without so much of it."
"If there are, I will try to find them. Till then these glasses help." He smiles at their innocent pondering. "It is kind of you to think of me, but what if there is a person who is hurt by the dark? Darkening the Nexus may hurt his eyes as much as mine."
"Plants can get hurt by too much dark," says Lono, thinking about it. "Mr. 111 and Mr. 33 say gardens need lots of sun. Maybe if there was a person that was a plant?"
"We could get you a hat?" suggests Galen.
"I think light isn't good for us, but it's ok," says Kaze, "because we have shadows all over to protect us." He removes a glove, revealing a hand that looks like a mitten made of darkness. When he waggles his fingers, they can be seen separately, but the rest of the time the shadows blend together. He slips his glove back on. "The Waltzes would get burns on their hands and up to their elbows from too much sun, if they didn't wear their gloves, because they didn't have shadows there."
"A creature made from magic or machinery, and not a biological process like humanoids or animals." He smiles slightly. "I am a mage as well...well sort of anyway. I was pulled from my studies."
He blinks as the two chubby twins dart off. "You lot have a great deal of energy."
After hearing the definition, the remaining bunch of them all nod.
"Kuja made the bigger Mages and the first Waltzes, and then the bigger Mages and Rydia made us and the other Waltzes," says Luca. "But after that there was no more Mist, and they thought we'd be the last ones. And then Mr. 288 laid an egg last year..."
The twins have to stop and rest a few times on their way to their door, and trip once, but they're through - and will be back soon.
"Thank you!" the twins chirp, and offer him the hat.
"Um, I don't think either one," says Luca. "Some of the bigger Mages were feeling strange, and we were scared maybe they were sick. But they said they didn't feel sick. But they stayed inside and ate a lot and didn't want to go anywhere."
"Mr. 33 told me later it was something like how the chickens act before they get eggs," comments Lono.
"And then Mr. 288 just laid an egg," comtinues Luca. "Nobody knew he'd do that. And so did the other ones that were feeling strange."
"Does the light bother you, Mister?" asks Luca.
"This is the Nexus," says Kaze.

"I don't know why it wouldn't make it darker for you if it hurts you," says Luca. "Usually the Nexus is a nice place."
"We don't know any spells to make things darker," adds Kaze. "But maybe the Nexus will decide it's night time soon?"

"I think they're called that because there's always three of them," adds Juro.
"There are more hats in our village," says Teo.
"We can go get you one of those," continues Tavi.

"We're Black Mages," says Juro.
Teo and Tavi nod and dart off as fast as chubby magelets can dart in the direction of their door.

He tries not to laugh or coo at the sight of the twins tripping, but these little mages are just adorable.

Teo and Tavi exit their door, with an adult-mage-sized spare pointy hat. They head back towards the rest of the group.
