Jasper Hale walks into the Nexus-surprisingly without Alice at his side. His forlorn eyes gaze around the open space curiously, his jaw clenched on instinct. It was rare for him to go off by himself, but today he felt the need to take a long walk alone. The night before had given him reason enough…
Alice had worked so hard to make Bella’s birthday perfect in every way. Everything had been in place…that is, up to the point where he had decided to move closer to Bella to watch her open her gifts. He had always had a hard time controlling himself around humans even after the years that he had spent with the Cullens. Bella was no different to him than any other human even when he wanted to consider her family; his move had almost killed her. If Emmett had not been standing nearby to stop him… He shudders at the thought, taking a few wary steps to the side until the large Nexus sign catches his attention.
Ask a Question. A question… aloud? Jasper’s brow creases with skepticism as he slides his hands into his pockets. Sure he had a question-a few of them, though he wasn’t about to let it all out at once. What would one question hurt?
“Is it possible to regain faith or… trust in yourself when you feel that you’re always on the verge of losing control and hurting someone important?” he asks aloud, feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable.
