You realise the superiors you’ve always been loyal to are going to use you as an expendable scapegoat. How do you react?

Should anyone care to trace the signal, they’ll find it’s coming from a terminal within the main Nexus area…

I ran away and found a better Master to serve.

And would you die for that one?

*softly* I would have. He died. I serve no one but my Mates, Casciel and Hyou, now.

So if your second master had needed to use you as a scapegoat, you would have stayed?

My point was that he wouldn't have done that. He was a good man. Certainly far better than I deserved..

Then I'm sorry about your loss.

Do you mind if I ask why you consider that the mark of a good master?

He wasn't unneccessarily cruel, he kept me fed and clothed, and though my Master, he still treated me with respect.

I guess I think the mark of a good Master is that.. you'd serve them, even if they weren't your Master, just because you'd want to.. You care for them, so you do things for them even when they haven't ordered you to. Bad MAsters, you're only serving out of fear, and you end up hating them and not doing more than they specifically order.. and sometimes you're able to find loopholes in their orders.

I think I understand what you mean. A good leader, not just a master.

And Collaboration, not Control, to put it into Yeerk terms.

Yes. I cared for him.. He taught me a lot. Education in the traditional sense of the word as well as how to protect myself, and how to control my fire-half. My Cassie and Hy weren't so lucky.. And my original Masters - Mistresses, actually - weren't anything like him, either.

And now you're free of their kind. What is your 'fire-half'?

My mother was dark fae, but my father was a fire elemental. When I get upset, angry.. over-emotional in any way other than depressed, the fire in me kind of.. escapes. I can control it better now than I used to, though. Thanks to him.

Ah, I do understand. Control over your instincts is a gift... especially when they're so dangerous.
