With the loud, startled whinney of a horse, a rider sporting a tricorn, a sabre and late 18th century clothing clatters into the Nexus. With his flintlock out and ready he looks around, frowns, but continues his mission.

The next stranger he comes across will get a command. "Stand and deliver!"

Ed just stares at him, one eyebrow raised.

"Didn't you hear me? Stand and deliver!"

"Oh, I heard. I just don't feel like cooperating. Not that I have much on me of worth." He folds his arms across his chest and smirks. "Besides, not like you can hurt me if I don't want you to, and even if you did manage to do so somehow, you'd be getting a nasty surprise."

"You say you have little, but you can afford good clothing. A contradiction." He grins. "And what surprise is this?"

"...What kind of idiot wanders around with their most valuable crap on them? And if I told you, it wouldn't be much of a surprise, now would it?"

"Many idiots, sir. And I dislike surprises, tell me now."

[haganenomore]

Ed shrugs. "Lots of people don't like surprises. Or at least, the potentially bad kind, be it someone that they know they killed getting back up to return the favor, or simply getting to find out that someone that work under them has managed to generate more paperwork for them by making something somewhere go boom."

"I don't believe this has much to do with my request. Unless you have an ambush set up as this surprise of yours, I will take your goods."

"The second one only really applies to my former CO. It's the first one that could end up applying to you. Assuming you successfully shoot me with that thing."

"You believe yourself immortal?"

[haganenomore]

"Nope, but I apparently have a chance to stick around for around four hundred years. At least. Which kinda sucks, actually."

"Do you describe some kind of black magic?"

[haganenomore]

Ed shakes his head. "Nope. Alchemy."

[cape_and_musket]

"Ah. You have more a scientific mind, then."

[haganenomore]

"Yeah. Although there are people around here that use some form of magic or other. And since I've seen people use it before, be it in fights or simply messing around practicing it while using me as a target object, I know it exists. In some worlds at least."

"It seems an odd mix to accept both science and magic."
