"Annoying, isn't it?" sighs Mr. Croup. "I mean, really. Christmas is supposed to have a meaning besides shopping."

"I liked crucifying Jesus," Mr. Vandemar mutters.

"That was just a ridiculous takeover of a winter festival by monotheism," Bonesaw scoffs. "Besides, that's Easter."

Croup nods. "True. And anyway, it's not like he was born then. The callender has changed so many times since then it isn't even funny."

"Same with Easter," adds Vandemar, with his usual helpfulness.

Bonesaw shrugs. "Such is the nature of calendars; none of them measure time with any particular accuracy."

"Indeed, they are sadly lacking."
