It's a man. On a couch. And over there, another man, on a couch. They could almost be related, though the golden haired one looks human at least. The other one has a few feathers and a long, furry tail, and he's the only one who bothers with a question

"Yes. All of the time, actually." Haine's voice is quite dry.

"Did you have a choice or were you also forced into it~?"

"I could let him die, I guess. That's the only way out of it." He shrugs.

"That kind of babysitting, I see. Who is he?"

[damnedstray]

"My partner." There's a certain hint of exhaustion the comes out with that statement.

"What's your business?"

[damnedstray]

"Mostly assassination. We do other odd jobs though."

[on_this_stage]

"Not a good business to be in if you can't take care of yourself." Hee.

Haine snorts faintly and nods. "No kidding. He's sort of accident prone." Understatement.

"How long has he survived so far?"

[damnedstray]

He has to think about that. "He should be in his late twenties." Yeah, so he doesn't know his partner's age. He's never really cared.

"That's amazing. Ten years, you think? As an assassin?"

[damnedstray]

He pauses, unable to tell if the man is being sarcastic or not. "He's spent most of his working life as a PI."

"That explains it." Not that he knows what PI stands for. Not important!

Haine snickers and shrugs. "He's fallen off enough buildings." He pauses. "Who are you babysitting?"

"Actual children, in my case." He pauses, smirking a little. "The ones who aren't still act like it."
