A young girl with blond hair and a red dress carefully trod through the Nexus. She'd heard plenty of this place but this was her first time here and, as such, she was going to stick to being cautious. Finding the main area - the sign clued her in - she glanced around at the people around her before clearing her throat politely ( Read more... )

"If they've been here? Make sure they're not LOLed or an alt, and then forget about it. This place has a way of changing people sometimes, and if they've been gone a while, well, things happen. Even robots don't stay the same forever."

Forte stays out of immediate hitting range, leaning against a wall.

Roll did a doubletake. The purple face marks were worrying, along with the other Forte likenesses, but he didn't act the part and that gave Roll some comfort.

"We made as absolutely sure as we could that they weren't from another universe. If it's an... LOL, then it's a very subtle one. And while it is true that even robots can change, that does not mean they can't be warning signs for something else."

As wound up as he is from the long trip to Mars, Forte doesn't feel like being hit with a broom today - or whatever immediate in-range object Roll might choose to fling in his direction.

"Check for viruses yet? My world's had a nasty one, and so's one other 'verse I know of."

Roll didn't have a broom with her and, though the closest object happened to be an endtable, if this was simply a punk that had grabbed some of Forte's looks to act cool then there was no way she could chance harming him.

"....yes." However, that he knew who she was taking about was robotic was a little disconcerting.

"Subtle changes may be a sign that something is, indeed, wrong," observes a soft-spoken woman with a very gravid belly. "They may even be all the cry for help a proud or independent soul will allow itself. Your motivation is the love you feel, and even if nothing is wrong they are sure to understand your care. Look into the mystery, child, for at the worst you can do little harm, and at best you may give exactly what is needed."

The girl nodded, looking thoughtful. "They aren't proud nor independent. Doesn't necessarily mean it's not what you say, but it's worth noting. However, if I prod too much, they'll most likely cover it up. I do not want them to pull into themselves."

She nods thoughtfully. "Indeed. Better to draw the worrying one out. Let the exposure come at the pace they set, and you shall eventually learn what you need. You might begin by asking about all they have done, on their voyage--and, if worry is sufficient, corroborating it."

"It's all in the timing. If I do anything too soon, they'll hide it, too late and well, then it's too late. They have no problem retelling tales of the trip. If they hadn't gone to take care of something, that's most likely what we would be doing at this moment."

"Well, if you're really worried about then, they'll probably know it and be happy that you cared enough to worry," says a small boy walking next to a long-haired man who's clearly related to him.

"I think what Kenji is trying to say, is that you should tell your friend that you're worried about him," he looks pensive for a moment, almost angry but depressed at the same time. "Even the smallest changes can lead up to something big."

"I'm afraid he'll attempt to hide them, making it harder to be certain things are fine. He doesn't like worrying those around him." The look the man had gave her the impression he'd been through something similar, and it hadn't turned out so well. But it wasn't her business so she kept her any questions to herself.

"People can change in a short period of time. And if it's been a long time, he may have changed more." Blues frowns slightly. "Just accept that he's changed and move on with it. Has he given you real reason to be suspicious about something being truly wrong?"

"Blues-!?" But no, after getting a better look, this was not their older brother. This must be an alt. Roll quickly covered her shock by busying herself with straightening her dress, then going about like it hadn't happened at all.

"Robots, however, do not change without a reason. Spans of time are not one of them. Something happened that required a change in his behavior, even as small as it is. But, no, that by itself is not troubling. It could go either way at the moment."

Blues smiles at the reaction. He can't help it. "Still not used to alternates yet?"

He snickers. "If you think spans of time pass without anything happening, you are a fool. And if that isn't troubling you, what is? If you don't mind me asking..."

"This is my first time here."

Was he laughing at her? She would not be happy if he was. She kept a professional tone despite the look she was giving him. "This is based on over ten years of research and study. A pre-programmed personality can not change itself outside of its limitations. If you are stating otherwise, I would love to hear the explanation on how that works, along with an example."

"What's troubling is that I feel as if there's something I'm missing. Like there is more to this then the little changes in behavior. Not something wrong for sure, but something. And there's still the possibility that it is something to be worried about."

There's an X, out playing hide-and-seek with Phantom. Phantom is winning.

"People change, Roll-chan. But if there's something about it that worries you, maybe you should try to find out what caused the change."

"But if it is a good change or a bad one is what worries me. And someone already mentioned looking for people they met and asking them for insight." Then she frowned a tiny bit, puzzled. "I'm afraid you have me at a bit of a loss, you know my name but I don't know yours."

Ooops. X blushes a bit at that, but lying to Roll just Is Not An Option. "I, um, think you should ask Dad about any younger siblings you don't have yet... I'm X."

Roll blinked, then smiled cheerily. "X! I've actually heard about you, Mr. Variable~" Not much, but enough that she wasn't at a total loss.
