Elisa's back in the Nexus after a bit of a long absence.  Events in her own reality, most notably the adoption of several hatchlings from another clan as well as the impending birth of her niece, along with all kinds of other stuff common to super-heroes guardians like her.

So she's sitting on a convenient Nexus couch, looking a bit thoughtful.  " ( Read more... )

Ed blinks. "Hi Elisa. I'd just been thinking about you recently. And I've had times like that. Although right now it isn't entirely stuff piling on so much as... not quite letting me get the previous thing dealt with first."

"Oh, hey Ed. What's going on on your end?"

She considers this. "...Other than the obvious."

Ed snerks. "Beware women with apples. Who knows what'd happen to you if you ate one."

Now she winces. "Well, I'm now single, but we both sort of saw that coming. Also, one of the others finally found the portal I used to use so he's been coming around."

"Nothing good, that's for sure," Elisa agrees.

She shakes her head. "Sorry to hear that, Ed."

Ed shakes her head. "I'll survive. Presumably. Would suggest something for Hope, but I'm not much use for kids that age. I'm of more help for when the kid is old enough to have more of a personality."

"Don't worry about it," she replies, waving a hand. "But you'd be surprised how much personality a kid that young can have."

"Okay, alter that to 'old enough to inflict alchemy geekism' on," Ed says wryly.

"I have to point out that it'd only serve as academic knowledge for her though, if it's the kind from my world. Only works for humans from variations of there. Not entirely sure why beyond it being world specific. Although I'm sure she'd be perfectly able to use any variations not from home."

"Huh. You know... I don't know if we've got any kind of actual alchemy. Plenty of honest to God magic, but maybe not any super-science. ...At least, not like that."

Ed shrugs. "You could always find out if you find yourself with some random free time that you don't mind spending on something like that. And I know there's people with access to the Nexus who have some form of workable alchemy that isn't the version I grew up using."

Ed blinks and makes a face. "That makes me sound older than I actually am. I'm not even quite out of my teens yet."

Elisa laughs at that. "Well, I know plenty of people who act younger than they are, so consider yourself tipping the balance back the other way."

"I actually do manage to wind up acting my own age--or younger--when I'm around friends my age. It mainly depends on my audience."

"Heh. Good for you, Ed."
