Scarlet eyes are watching

Aug 18, 2008 12:43

As a tiny humanoid woman sits on the back of an easy chair with one blue-booted leg crossed elegantly over the other.

"So," she says thoughtfully in her high, shrill voice as she brushes imaginary lint off the red trim on her white sleeveless jumpsuit. "I know it's undoubtedly been asked before, but how important to you is being in charge?"

"Not really that important. Just as long as the person who is in charge listens to me and respects my professional opinion. I don't really mind as long as everyone does their job right."

"Hmm. The does give you someone to take the blame if a plan doesn't work. But finding a leader with the brains to listen can be a difficult endeavour."

Therese shrugs. "Every leader listens to a good idea. All I'd have to do is suggest or hint at the advantages and deny the disadvantages. If they take it as their idea, so be it."

"Not every leader. I once served under one who didn't know a good idea from his exhaust port." Starscream snorts.

"It's not terribly important," the still human Atalanta says. Looks like she's got herself some more modest clothes today. Red, of course.

Those large red eyes go to the human woman. "Why not?"

"I'm not one for ambition... Though, I'd lead if I had to."

"Ah." She smirks slightly. "One of those."

"It isn't, usually." Oh, how familiar this face will be to Starscream. The expression, not so much. Telrim's eyes are narrowed, fixed on the Transformer as she strides over. "But the exceptions are very important to me."

The little Seeker's own eyes narrow as she starts scanning her creation and seeing what shape the young drone is in. "There you are. It slagging took you long enough. Are you trying to destroy her before she's even finished?"

If you knew- Telrim holds back her scowl. She may have been humiliated, punished and confined to the Pool ship for the past few days, but being angry at Starscream won't make her any less dangerous.

She assumes a cold expression instead. "I found this wandering around in place of my host. Naturally I wanted to investigate what it was." She folds her arms, jaw clenching. "What is the meaning of it?"

"If you'd let Starhunter bring her back she'd be complete by now and you wouldn't have been taken by surprise so easily," says Starscream, still scanning and communicating with the drone shell. "As it is, unless I work on her now she'll be permanently offline in the next couple days."

"More than anything. No one's taming this dragon." Words aside, he's not really a dragon. He's completely human, but has earned the nickname 'one-eyed dragon.'

She turns her head and regards him, one slender brow arching. "And what are you in charge of?"

Starscream's radar has picked up those teenager vibes.

Teenager vibes indeed, but he's an accomplished teenager. "I'm the daimyo of Oshu, And one day, I'm going to be the ruler of all Japan."

"One little country on one tiny planet. How exciting." Starscream can't keep in the smugness, though she's not gloating.

Well, maybe to herself. But it's not showing.

As long as the leader is competent, I'm willing to follow. If they aren't and they aren't smart enough to listen to those who do know what needs to be done, well, then it's time to consider a change of leadership.

"Hmmm, a sensible being," murmurs Starscream, looking her over and scanning for information on species and such. What she sees doesn't quite match with her knowledge of humans.... So she's intrigued and starts surfing the Multinet for a possible match as she offers the woman a thin smile.

What can I say, I've never been one for stupid posturing when there's better things to do with my time.

*Starscream won't find an exact match (seems that most of Triv's alternates have gotten themselves dead over the last couple millennia) but she might just figure out that slightly-odd energy field could be an Immortal's Quickening. But only if her version of the Multinet has connections to the Highlander universes.*

The information on Immortals is there. But what she's seeing in Triv could also possibly match with several other races or conditions. A curious gleam comes into her eyes as she tries to narrow it down, at the same time instructing several drones back in her home reality to do various tasks.

On stupid posturing she hasn't much to say, knowing very well that she was once badly guilty of the habit.

Instead she only smiles and says (while scanning for calluses on the woman's hands and hints from her skeletal structure), "True. So what is it that you do?"
