He peeks at the diamonds, inquires about a small one in the corner, "How much for this?"

Liam inspects the diamond. "Mm, well... sales have been slow, so I suppose a stone of that size would go for one hundred dollars. Ah, American, 21st-century, though if that's not your currency I believe there are machines about to make the exchange...?"

He soon returns with the required currency, silently thanking whatever deity urged him to keep on saving his money and not just blow it all on the first awesome weapon he saw in a shop. "This much, right?" he asks, offering the money. "And how do you think that stone would do in a necklace or ring setting, for example? It looks to be about the right size for what I'd like to mount it in."
