A young man steps into the Nexus, his eyes glancing from side to side from behind the orange-tinted glasses he wears. He leans against a nearby wall, not looking overly surprised, and maybe even a little bored? He keeps silent for the better part of half an hour, simply observing, before finally deigning to speak. When he does so, his voice is ( Read more... )

Lily twitches, stiffens; that hits much, much too close to home for her.

"I would say this comrade was correct in her thinking." Because that's exactly what she and Iris thought when they escaped the lab where they were created.

"Would you now?" His eyes flick over her, sizing her up and dismissing her in almost the same moment. "Why is that?"

"...Because that was my situation once."

"So you ran from the purpose you were created for, to try and be something you obviously aren't?"

There's a giant, alien, transforming robot lounging on an oversized couch nearby. Pay no attention the the robo-kitty on his shoulders; he's not.

"I'm gonna have to go with none of the above."

"And what would you go with, then?"

"Her life, her choice. If she thinks herself as human, and the DNA agrees, then who's to stop her?"

The kitty hops down to get closer and sniff the new person. She's about four feet in length, excluding the tail.

"The people who created her, for one. Her former comarades, for another. She was made for a purpose, she is a weapon, like a gun, owned by those who created her. It doesn't matter what her DNA says, she can't be human."

Thirteen was just so happy to see Two. He was like the older brother who would give her shaken baby syndrome if she was left alone with him for too long. Or maybe not because there was that nice unwritten rule that she wasn't allowed to be around the others for long periods of time because she was just too much.

"Well, I dunno. I always liked Eleven in a way. She was fun to pester when she was around. I guess it was dumb of her to run away. I mean geezs Two. We both know what happens to us if we're really bad." Thirteen grimaces. Then rolls her eyes and drapes herself over one of the Nexus couches.

He turns to look at her when he hears her voice, instinctively checking her over for injuries of any kind. Finding none, he allows himself a smile. She was probably the only one who could get him to do that, hyperactive as she was, he never minded.

"She was a fine weapon in her own respect, but the second she ran off she lost my respect. Yes we do, which is why we're the smart ones who didn't run away, Thirteen."

Well given how spastic in nature Thirteen can be in the Facility it's not bad that Two checks her over. Sometimes she'll have a bruise and not really recall how she got it. Or worse a cut that she hasn't even gone to the doctors about. So often it's up to the others to march Thirteen to the doctors for something as simple as a band aide because she just hasn't thought of doing it.

"Yeah. I mean maybe they'll get her back to her old self I just don't understand what could have drawn her away. We get things we like for food. We have a rec room to listen to music and do other stuff if we've behaved ourselves. We get to perform our functions in such a lovely way, might I add. I just don't see what else we could ask for." Thirteen even flashes Two a wide smile.

"The doctors and scientists even treat us with a degree of respect I don't think we could get anywhere else. I like knowing they take pride in us, their very awesome creations."

Hence the checking out for injuries. Sometimes he puzzles over why she doesn't annoy him like others would, but it doesn't bother him. So he doesn't think it about it too deeply.

"Some animals can't appreciate their good fortune when they're taken in. They always want to stray. It's just bad breeding, maybe her donor was like that, always running." He shrugs, returning the smile.

"We make them obscene profits, why wouldn't they be proud of us?"

She's still a were-jaguar, thanks to a LOL. She doesn't know it'll wear off in a day or so, which would be about a week since getting LOL'd.

"It's her right to think that," she says, growling a little.

"She doesn't have rights, she's a weapon. Guns don't have rights, neither does she." He raises a brow.

"Guns aren't sentient beings, last time I checked, and she is." It just so happens the hybrid looking girl's been hanging around one of Eleven's closest friends, Ratchet.

"Guns are created weapons, like her. Cloned from a dead girl. She's property, livestock, an attack dog. Doesn't matter if she's sentient, she's an object just like the rest of us."
