Amy's in the Nexus, sitting curled on a couch in her human alt form. She's looking pretty content, but also just a little green around the gills and tired.

"Have you ever stopped and looked back on your life, and realized that it's gone a way that you would have never dreamed of?"

((People with the right scanners will be able to tell that she' ( Read more... )

"Many times. For both good and bad. At times it makes me curious about what could happen next."

She nods. "Me too. Especially since what has happened to me seemed so terrible... but it's resulted in more good things that I'd ever dreamed of."

After a brief pause, it was his turn to nod.

"Enduring terrible things and surviving to make good things happen for yourself takes admirable strength. What kind of good things are happening for you?" He would not be offend she didn't want to answer.

She blushes and looks down. "It wasn't my strength that got me through it. And... compared to some of the things I've heard here they'd probably seem silly. I'm just a housewife."

It's plain that silly or not, those things mean a great deal to her.

The blush is endearing. His smile is small but sincere and warm.

"Judging yourself against the standards of this place would be pointless, or possibly dangerous. You do yourself a discredit. There is nothing more important than caring for a family you love that loves you too."

The blush deepens just a little, she's pleased by his words.

"They're the good things." She looks up, her eyes glimmering just a little. "And the terrible thing was nearly losing all the family that I had at the time."

The pause is longer this time, and somehow heavier.

"Losing your family is terrible by any standard. I'm happy for you that you were able to find the good things."

His voice is gentle. "Excuse me saying, but you don't look entirely well. Is there anything that you need?"

((Sorry for the delay. I had to leave unexpectedly.))

Her smile trembles, but then she blinks and runs a systems check before she realizes what he means. Oh, what is the human term...?

"I'm fine, thank you," she says softly. "It's just that I'm expecting a baby in a few months."

"Oh!" He looks surprised and embarrassed. She looks so young. But then, she also looks human, so what does he know? "Congratulations." He doesn't know what else to say.

"Thank you." She pinks again, but then looks at him quizzically. "What changed in your life?"
