Blitzwing is in the Nexus by himself for once. Those who have seen him here previously know that he typically appears in the company of one Junker Ratchet, Jaraxis sometimes in tow ( Read more... )

"It shouldn't be a matter of admitting you need help or not. You do what you're supposed to do, and if you can't, then you're either a failure or not properly using your resources."

"That's what I used to believe, but..." He trails off, not wanting to go into how things typically worked under Decepticon Command. Silent a moment, Blitzwing considers something before speaking again, head tilting just a bit to one side. "I suppose 'resources' would also include others, wouldn't it? Use of allies or even enemies, if it's possible? It would all depend on intent then - whether it's humble acceptance or an intent to use others like you'd use a weapon."

"All that matters is that you do your duty," Viral says, then pauses for a moment, thinking. "...Or what you need to do. You don't need to classify anything"

"I have no duty to anyone or anything, not anymore. And the only thing I absolutely need to do is survive." Blitzwing never was one to classify much, aside from two sets of basic categories... What was Autobot and what was Decepticon, and what should be destroyed and what should be left in tact. "The only problem with not classifying with how my life has turned out is that I least have to decide what is or is not a 'need'. Things I used to deem unnecessary suddenly seem to have some sort of worth."

He smirks. "You existence seems as straightforward as they come if you actually live that way. How lucky for you."

That's a new one on Blitzwing. "Doesn't matter, huh? Why not?"

"I've got former comrades who would disagree violently. Maybe strength alone isn't always enough to take it all every time, but I've seen that plus cunning or certain abilities win plenty. Positions of command. Fights to the death. Wealth."

If it sounds like a challenge to somehow prove wrong the notions instilled in him for so long, you'd be correct.

*Kickback shrugs* I rely on the other insecticons more times than I dare say. But then it's just the way we do things; I wouldn't call it the cowards way out.

*he tilts his head to the side for a moment and thinks* I'm not sure what true strength is. Though if I'd have to decide I'd probably say true strength is knowing when to quit. ...though that is subject to change. *he seems a little amused by that*

Still wary of anything Decepticon in the Nexus, Blitzwing folds his arms across his chest and frowns. He never did like the Insecticons in his own reality. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised with that answer. So if knowing when to quit is a strength, what's next after that? Sometimes quitting means you end up dead."

*Kickback doesn't care what Blitzwing thinks; after all he's not from his own reality so he has nothing to fear. So he just grins* Nope typical insecticon mentality that.

You need to know when to quit and when to stay and fight. *his antennae flick as he folds his arms and stares off into space for a moment* Also I think knowing what's important to you and never letting go of that is a strength of character. Principles are often compromised far to easily.

Alright. Now there is an idea Blitzwing can appreciate.

"So tenacity with what's important, then? Fair enough. The only difficult part is figuring out, then, what IS or is not important in the grand scheme of things." A pause. "And I've been trying to decide on if I should quit or if I should stay and fight for a while. I should have ditched the Junkers when I had the chance, but I stayed. Likely they'll get scrapped without my help, so it's lucky for them. Pit only knows why I stayed at all...it'll probably be my own death."

It's a tiny humanoid woman in a sleeveless white jumpsuit with red and blue trim. Her skin is swarthy, her eyes are red, her hair is a perfect black bob... and her voice is high and shrill as she says slowly and thoughtfully, "I think that I can safely say that the most courageous thing I've ever done was to admit to needing help, and then to trust someone enough to give that help. My own idea of true strength... was only found after I had given that trust."

She frowns and rubs at the tiny purple Auto sigil on her upper arm, then cocks her head to look up at him. "Hello, Blitzwing."

Oh, here's where it gets messy. Blitzwing does not recognize the creature in front of him, though the voice is hauntingly familiar... What does get to him, however, is her advice and how it makes him feel. Suddenly, he's aggravated with himself, finding that he's relieved to hear there's no loss of personal strength in accepting aid.

"You might know me by name, but I don't know you. And if you'll divulge the information, under what circumstances did you accept help? I still find it difficult to believe that allowing others to get involved is not a sign of some weakness. At the very least, doesn't allowing that make you look weak to others?"

"The first time was during the occupation of Earth." She wanders over and perches on the arm of a couch, then looks around impatiently and zips toward a bigger couch to sit on its arm instead. Settling down, she continues, "Someone repaired me after Megatron had stripped my internal wiring for some mistake that I can't even remember now, and then offered comfort. I nearly killed him, but in the end acceptance of his support was all that kept me sane and alive. I found that by accepting I also gained his respect."

She draws up one leg and absently puts an arm around it. "The second time was after Unicron had restored me to life. I was on the run, accompanied by one that I would have given that restored life to protect, when Rodimus Prime offered sanctuary. Once more my acceptance gained respect."

Those large eyes turn up toward him, asking if he knows her now, or if she needs continue.

Blitzwing was already long gone by the time the ghost of Starscream in his realm was given a new body by Unicron, but the voice plus the story about Megatron is more than enough.

The triple changer shudders visibly. He understands alternates ...that doesn't mean he appreciates or likes them.

"Starscream," he rumbles. "I find it ironic that any Starscream would speak of trust. Your alternate was the biggest backstabber in my reality on the Decepticon side."

"Such questions, Blitzwing. Has the state of your Decepticon army deteriorated so far in your time? That you question the nature of strength?"

Megatron shakes his head disapprovingly.

"And you were such a promising, reliable commando."

Oh slag. So normally rock solid while in the Nexus and given only over to temper flare ups, Blitzwing suddenly finds himself struggling to refrain from trembling. Whether out of surprise, fear or something else is a little up in the air...

"M-Megatron!" Fighting the urge to immediately drop to one knee or even salute with one first over his chest plate, the triple changer merely straightens up. He knows this is not the Megatron he once followed into battle, but it's enough that this one looks and sounds much the same. Still, he struggles to find the words to explain himself. "It...it has. I would say so, at least. You no longer lead the Decepticons and there is little to hold them together as a sufficient unit. The current leader has no ambition beyond personal, ever shifting whims. A loose cannon, if you will.

"I followed orders until I realized those orders would doom us all. My insubordination cost me my place among the Decepticons."
