Steph wandered into the Nexus, eyes focused on a handheld Tetris game. The teen played for a moment, then looked up and blinked, obviously confused. She looked around swiftly, then saw the sign

She blushed harder and nodded mutely, then workd past the lump in her throat.
"It's jus'... I... I can't," she said. Feeling like she had to explain herself she rubbed her arms. "He's older. A lot older. An'... an' I'm his student n' friend. Only."
"I'm prayin'," she sighed. "It's jus' so freakin' embarrassing, y'know? I mean, him being a teacher i one thing, but his looks... n' he's so sweet, I could tell him anythin'. Well, you know, except this...."
Hot chick in the Nexus? Who isn't a supervillain or Bat-person as far as he can tell? Paco suddenly isn't so annoyed about randomly showing up here again.
"Think ya already know, chica," Paco observes. "But I gotta wonder what's wrong with the dude if he's got a problem with being approached by you."
He's a big guy and his grin is flirtatious, but not predatory, if Steph's the sort who'll notice the difference.
"Well, he's older. Just old enough to make it a problem," she said. A few months ago she'd be glaring and ready to wipe the floor with this guy, but since she regained her voice and a home she was a lot more comfortable around other people, especially men.
So she returned the flirtatious look, combing her red locks absently. "I'd rather not have it at all... I mean, I like him as a friend. And there's.... other stuff that's a bit unorthodox about him, and make it a little weird. I can think of a lot of stuff my sister would have to say if she found out." That made Steph blush again and carefully study her hair.
A few months ago, Paco would have backed off before she had the excuse to wipe the floor with him anyway. Hey, his last girlfriend had the singular ability to literally blow herself up - and as they're still friends and he's in one piece, he can take a hint. (Unless your name is Brenda.)
"Just do the friend thing then," he suggests. "Can be done." Sounds like the voice of experience, sort of. "'Course, that's only if you really just wanna be friends. Your sister's not gonna be datin' the guy, is she?"
Flirting or not, he's been the guy somebody's older sister/mother/brother has been giving the evil eye enough times not to point that out.
"No. Nope, no, not a chance. Even if she wasn't in a long term thing with the moron popsicle this guy's not her type. Though I guess he's not supposed t' be mine, either," she shrugged. Then she looked at him. "You jus' friends with a lotta girls who like ya, then?"

"Well... blushing like that's usually a good sign that you got one. Let me guess, you can't help but look into his eyes when you talk to him, right?"
"Hey, just ask him already."
