He'd probably hear Ali sitting down beside him. Not that she isn't graceful, but that's a big bag of stuff she's got.

"You could get robotic eyes," she points out, "or magic ones. I think glass eyes could look nice. You could get different colors for different moods. And you could still wear sunglasses."

"Oooh, moodballs. Good idea." He pauses a minute. "Ali... right?"

"Can't complain. So. Robotic eyes? Magic eyes? I know this place is crazy but, come on. I--" He stops himself before he says 'I'll believe it when I see it' again.

I'm with Ali on this one. Is there a reason you don't simply intend to get replacements?

"...Samus?" The voice and the direction it's coming from sound about right. "What, you mean like, eye transplants or something? I don't know. Kinda creepy, if you think about it, someone else's eyes in your head..."

That doesn't preclude prosthetics, or regen treatments. Or magic, as Ali said.

"I think I prefer other people's hands staying away from my eyes or lack thereof, thanks so very much," he says after a minute or so.

"Speaking as someone else who is blind, eye patches would be goofy. Also glass eyes would at least make it easier to go out in public. I personally don't have that problem but..." She gets it.

Hello, hot-sounding blind chick. "I take it you still have your eyes, at least?"

"Yeah. They're just too damaged from what caused me to go blind." She smiles even though she knows the action is pretty much lost on both of them. "It isn't so bad. I pull off sunglasses nicely. I uh, have bad scaring around my eyes. Never bothered having it fixed."

And she'll beat the shit out of anyone who runs off with her sun glasses. Seriously. Or get her dog to drool all over them.

"Glass eyes?" And there's a long pause from the man who says this. "I think you should keep the sunglasses."

"I'd keep the sunglasses," Sands says patiently. "But would you really want me to take them off? What if they fall? What if they slip? I can't imagine that I'm a pretty sight."

"I think empty eye sockets would be better than... glass. Amazingly enough."

"Really??" Sands sounds incredibly surprised. "Why's that?"
