Aion+LOL=Guilttrip City

Aion is holding a purple hyacinth, and looking kind of dazed. Guilt is not a emotion he's used to, and he finds it extremely unpleasant. He finds a Convenient Nexus Couch and sits down, staring off into space for a while, before asking, "What is the worst thing you've ever done for a good reason? How did you make amends?"

"Forced a dear friend to kill me. How would you make amends for that?"

"I tried to make my brother kill a friend," Aion said. He doesn't look up. "And I don't know, that's why I asked."

Angeal nods. "I suppose do your best to make sure they recover from it."

I destroyed a world my people once claimed, to deny the Pirates what it held.

*At least her radioactive skin condition seems to have cleared up.*

"Have you ever killed most of an entire family because they wouldn't let you take away one of their daughters?"

If you expand the definition of family slightly, yes.

"Have you ever regretted anything you've done?" Aion asked. "I never had, until..." He held up the flower. "This. I appear to have been loled again."

Wiped a few cities off the face of the earth. And I made amends by finishing the job I started by killing the vampires who weren't in the cities in question, and setting the remaining population back on the road to civilization.

"So, you made amends for killing large numbers of people by killing other people?"

Vampires were on the verge of rendering the human race extinct, which is why extreme measures were needed. The vampires were concentrated in the cities, along with a small population of humans who were being used as livestock. I took the actions which were necessary to reduce the numbers of vampires to a level at which those humans who were still free had a fighting chance at survival, but in the process those captive humans were killed. I made amends for their deaths by ensuring that their deaths were not in vain, and that the free humans succeeded in ridding themselves of those vampires who were not in the cities when they were destroyed ( ... )

Aion tilted an eyebrow. "What I really love about this Nexus place is how it puts everything into perspective. For every person who is horrified that I would even consider taking the life of an enemy, I meet a person who probably wouldn't be fazed that I attempted to infect an entire world with nanotech."

Ukyo isn't quite sure what to make of this strange-looking person, but decides to answer their question anyway.

"I tried to destroy the home village of someone who is very dear to me in order to rule effectively as Emperor. I almost died in the process. I'm still trying to make amends."

"How, specifically are you making amends? And how would destroying someone's village make you a better Emporer?"

Ukyo stares at the ground, not meeting the other man's eyes. "They were--are--a village of peasants. Farmers. But they learned to use weapons, and that threatened the social order. They were a threat to my power. I wasn't...I wasn't thinking well at the time. I was too focused on my new power and not on what matters.

"As for how I'm making amends...I gave up my throne. I cut my hair--sounds strange, but it's important. And now I'm going to go to that village again. On foot, alone. And I will beg for their forgiveness. Everyone else I knew is dead. The only people left to me are in that village."

The man managed to sum up in very few words exactly why Aion was an anarchist. "Well, that's certainly a dramatic gesture," Aion said. "But how will their revenge benefit your victims?"
