"Who sez things gotta run smooth?" Mornbein hitched her butt up onto the back of an armchair, a fat little baby with wild black hair held under one arm like a doll. "'N all them other questions depend on what the bastich's done lately."

((and I'm not totally certain why I'm hitting her with one of the most uncooth and ill mannered pups I have....))

"Well wouldn't it be earier if you didn't offend whoever you were with?" And a MOTHER speaking like this? Give Sarah a break Nexus!

Cue toothy grin that showed teeth a little too sharp to be human. "Offendin' people's the least'a my worries."

Then she looked down as the baby squeaked and threw his blanket over her shoulder before lifting her black T-shirt to feed him.

Once he was latched on she made sure the blanket covered everything that she wanted covered and looked up again to answer the original question in the way that seemed logical to her. "Friends jes' git words. Enemies git my fists. Kids 'n skirts weaker'n me git words. 'N my big brother gits a kick where it counts."

She has no idea what to think of that. It's a little scary to think that anyone isn't human. But she has met other non-humans who were very nice. Also humans who didn't look human at all.

"Yes but the problem is...What kind of words? How do you speak to them?" Why fight? But that isn't asked. Too many reasons.

"In an age where internet games can affect the real world, manners do seem to be rather... lacking. I don't really care about anyone other than my beloved, but I at least try to speak properly, even if everyone else makes a point not to..."

This was a surprisingly long phrase for Endrance, but hey.

"In-ter-net?" What? Arg confused again. "But I do commend you on speaking well. I find it is respectful to everyone within ear shot to speak well."

"I agree completely." He decided to not even bother trying to explain the internet.

Don't tell her about the internet. It might break her brain. For it is made of porn. "Excellent."

Lycoris swept forward to sit on a stool to keep her large hoop-skirt from folding up into her face and showing off her undergarments. "I have noticed the same as you," she said gracefully. "I feel that the old manners have been slowly forgotten."

Sarah tries to fight off a 'omgdon'tDOthat!' look. It works rather nicely. But the nexus may force her into getting a nervous tic at some point.

She looks a bit...embaressed. "It is a shame. But I think that it makes me appricate people of my home...more."

Lycoris chuckles slighty, if a bit insanely, smiling just a little. "Forgive me, for I have scared you."

She sighed. "I remember teaching the younger generations manners... And do they listen to me any more, of course not."

Sarah tries to ignore the insanity she thinks she might be hearing. "It isn't you. Really."

Thay causes a head tilt. "You are a...teacher?"

"Hey, Sarah," Elisa says. "Me, I'm from New York. New Yorkers have raised rudeness to an art form. There's supposedly still some basic guidelines for social interaction... but I don't think many people really follow them anymore."

"Hello Elisa." Sarah pushes some hair away from her eyes. "Well. I would say that is an American thing. But I truly can't. I just find myself...curious. Yesterday I met a...rather charming man from around your time period. Perhaps a few years into your future. He knew exactly how to act to make me feel at ease." She blushes more than a bit.

"It was rather...nice. We joked and talked. Had tea as well."

"That does sound nice," she agrees. "'course, I'm not sure my perspective on any of this is real good. I was always more of a tomboy than a little lady, growing up."

She justt blushes. Ok so she was ready to swoon a little for that man. "Well that's quite all right. Even I don't act like the perfict young woman all the time. After All! I like learning new things."

Clearly beeing geeky for knowledge is BAD.

Niceness is overrated unless I actually like who you are, as an individual. Whiiiich happens pretty rarely, actually. And fairness, well, the world isn't fair, so why should I be fair?

...why would unmarried men approach unmarried women in any way other than normal? Unless they were looking for some ass or something, but I don't think you're talking about the specific mating ritual of the wild male, are you?

"So you reserve being nice for a select few?" That has her blink but nod. She understands actually. She doesn't get it but she understands.

"Well. Sometimes they wish to talk. But I come from 1843. In my time it isn't proper if the unmarried man approaches unless there is another person. It just seems really strange to see that happening here so often. While I am getting used to the..words people use here the actions are puzzling."

Yup! That sums it up, more or less.

...I don't think 1843 and I would get along very well.
