A hatched chick doesn't return to the shell, and a fledgeling leaves the nest. You can't go back to what you've outgrown. That doesn't mean you'll never have a home again.
"If you're looking to go back home, then yes, you're wasting your time. If you're looking to make a new home, then there's some chance you'll be successful."
Alured would like to add an enthusiastic "Oooh!" to the statement. Isn't he helpful?
"I have been thinking that maybe the reason I am not happy with all the apartments in Italy is ebcause... I want to return to the States." Jubilee admits. And yes, Alured is helpful. He makes Jubilee smile.
There's a Kyo sitting on a nearby couch, having a drink out of a water bottle. He looks mildly surprised to see another Asian person around, or at least an Asian person that doesn't have pink hair.
"I guess they mean we're brought up to depend on somethin' we're eventually gonna have to leave," he says, "home, protection of parents, shit like that. Not really fair..."
Jubilee smiles. It is always neat to meet another Asian. It gives her a chance to do the polite bow and hope she is not making an ass out of herself.
And she joins him on the couch. "That we have to leave the home and the protection of our parents? Yah, totally unfair." He might not the casual Californian accent on this particular Asian, which might be unusual for some. "But can't there be something always there, always dependable?"
Kyo just raises an eyebrow at the bow - bowing to a guy like him in casual conversation is much like going to a TGI Friday's restaurant in a prom dress, but he lets it go. It DOES start to make sense when he pays a little more attention to her voice, though.
"Yeah. Nobody really prepares us for it." He takes another drink and looks aside at her. "Well, you've seen the rap people who still live with or depends on their parents get. Bunch of mixed signals, just like everything else."
For his part, his accent is so Japanese it hurts. It's just this side of Engrish, to be completely honest, but his diction is almost fluent.
Jubilee never grew up in China, and still suffers hardly no knowledge of her native culture. Last time she went, she got strange looks because of the California accent and her sharp blue eyes. Made her feel weird.
"Well I am not saying you gotta live with your parents to have the comforts of having someone to depend on. I sure of haven't for a long while, technically." She brushes a strand of hair out of her face. "But I just think there should be some people, or something, that still reminds us that we are wanted or needed or loved. Ya know?"
"Home's where the people you love are. If it's school, or the house you grew up... the like," Sirius said, showing he wasn't a thoughtless moron, as Lily oft accused him being. "It changes, see? What was home when you were small isn't home when you're old. Usually."
"Well, you could sit on a sidewalk and hold a sign," he smirked, then shrugged. "I don't know how you find a new home. I mean, my home's my school for most of the year, I don't know where I'm going for summer holidays though. Probably James'."

"Depends on the determination. The human will is a powerful thing."
